Don Corleone

by Don Corleone on 16 December 2010 - 05:12

Dave, at first, you had me with the Dobe. Now I'm your #1 fan. I love having a Cocker around. Whenever I step in a pile of #2, it is nice if you have a CS to wipe your shoe on! ;p

Any type of spaniel. 1. They are the most intelligent. 2. They are the most loyal. 3. They love the water as much as I do.

I am a working dog LOVER!!

@Gemini I grew up with american pit bulls before they became so popular on tv and newspapers. I hate when people try to make ppd out of pits. That was not ever suppose to be the temperement of the breed not even during the peak of the blood sport age.

I participate in SAR and love the lab retrievers from gundog stock, but also love the blood hounds

I currently own a GSD. Lot easier to train than a pit.

I worked and lived in Alaska. The huskies were always fun to learn about.

I love seeing any dog do a job. The training and dog's ability is fascinating.

German Shepherds first of course-paws down. My second choice would be a working line Border Collie. Now there's a dog with drive and an amazing work ethic. I do herding with my neighbor who as Borders- they are really cool, happy dogs until they see those sheep...then...look out...they are all business...

malndobe

Malinois, Malinois and then Malinois :-)  After that there are quite a few breeds in the running for second, a good Dobe, APBT, a number of the smaller terriers, Giant Schnauzer.  My next non-Malinois will probably be either a Dobe or a small terrier though.

If you like an energetic, aware/reactive type of dog, I don't think you can beat the Malinois for "total package" when it comes to intelligence, drives, health, longevity, athleticism, work ethic, etc.
