Uber Land

by Uber Land on 09 October 2010 - 04:10

I will say that I love Geck's eyes and his ear set.  he has beautiful deep brown eyes that are correctly shaped.  generally when you get the shorter muzzle, and higher stop, the eyes tend to be more rounder in appearance, and thats not pleasing to me. and the ears tend to suffer also.

but Geck has the beautiful eyes I look for and the ear set I love.  I just wish I could put Mark vh Back's head and rear on him.

Thanks for the kind words, Uberland and others.  Oakley is special to me, very much so.

Geck does have his good points, namely his rich pigmentation, and upon closer examination I see what you mean about his eyes.  But that head...Can't get over that.  It's evident in his granddam, too, and that is something I wouldn't want to breed for.

Crys,
I'm right there with you on that head.  Not my cup o' tea.  I don't want my beloved GSD looking like a chow with loose lips & jowls.  It's not the standard and it's ugly.  No dog is perfect and we all love our dogs.  Having met you and Oakley I am qualified to say she is a lovely girl.  Not the perfect brood bitch but lovely just the same.

One really needs to meet this pair to know the miracle of Crys & Oakley.  And it could not have happened without the dedication of Stef @ Montana GSD & Mali rescue.  She takes in the cast offs from breeders who don't care about the standard but breed for money.  She then matches cast off with someone who doesn't care that the dog isn't perfect, because the dog is perfect for that person.

Uber, many dogs from this kennel (Nobili) show this body type and this head. It looks like a type they have "set"

As for as photoshop in this pic, I can't detect it, but I am not as experienced as many on this matter.

As far as distortion, the handler in the pic does not appear distorted at all in relationship to the dog.

You've got me blushing, DebiSue!  No, really, we're not perfect.  Our obedience leaves something to be desired, but we do what we need to.

No one is perfect, not human, not dog.  But read the standard, look at the illustrated standard, and then compare your dog.  Be objective and realistic.  And don't get all huffy when someone comments on something you should have seen yourself.

and its the breeders personal taste in this type of head and body.
he makes for an impressive looking dog, but impressive isn't always correct.

I would much prefer Bravos v Steffenhaus, or Mark vh Beck any day. but that is my personal taste.

Good choices Uber Land!
Those are the kinds of heads I like to see, strong, masculine without the Chow Chow look!  Very nice.

Crys, silly girl.  I didn't say you and Oakley were perfect.  I said you were perfect for each other and I will stand by that statement.  You both have spunk!
