Jyl, some dogs don't seem to do as good on anything chicken. One of my dogs that has had a certain food and did well with chicken will be trying the chicken and rice....the others will be doing lamb and rice since none of my other dogs ever did good on chicken. My friend has a costco membership so I may give him money every time he goes and get him to pick me up some Kirkland dog food. Anyway, today I'm going to put a small amount of the 4health into their food and start the transition.

I noticed that too about the chicken dog food. I fed the Kirkland chicken and rice for about a year or so... I had mixed results with my dogs. My dogs would do good on it for a while and then get dry coats and then their coats would be great again. Now that I have them on a lamb based food I noticed that they seem to be doing alot better. My male can not eat anything with chicken in it. If he does he gets really itchy. So now that we figured that out and I put the dogs on a lamb based food they all seem to be doing better. As I mentioned before I am feeding the 4Health now since I had a credit at Tractor Supply. The ingedience in the 4Health are almost identical to what I was feeding before.
The one thing I really like about the Kirkland is that the price is really good....$24.99 for 40 pounds. The 4Health is $34.99 for 35 pounds. The one thing is that it is easier for me to go to TSC than it is Costco. I go to Costco once every 3 months or so. I am by TSC every Sunday.

How does everyone that is feeding the 4Health like it so far?

I used a couple of bags and my Rottweilers liked it and did well but my Riesenschnauzer didn't do so well on it...go figure.

Which formula do you think that your dogs are doing better on.... the lamb and rice or the chicken and rice?

Sorry Jyl I didn't see you commented back. It's hard to say. I did a slow switch......strictly lamb, or strictly chicken the results were not as good as I would prefer. Stools were bigger, and they used the bathroom more often. With the ones on Chicken they seemed constipated at times, loose stools, though their coats are still shiny and good. I think the ones on Lamb are doing better, stools aren't loose, no constipation, coats look good...but like I said before with Lamb or Chicken, they're going more often and stools are kind of on the larger size. With TOTW I never had any of that except on one dog, and he does seem to do better on the Lamb than on TOTW Salmon. I may switch them back to TOTW, right now I've gone to putting one cup of TOTW mixed in with 2 cups of the other food and the results seem to be better than just strictly 4Health.

I noticed the same thing with the 4Health lamb. My dogs left big piles in the yard and they also seemed to go more. Their coats have stayed nice and shinny. The only thing I do not like is the amount of poop that is in the yard now.
With my male that can not eat chicken I am thinking about putting him on the TOTW lamb and potato formula. It is the new one that just came out. I really like the TOTW, I try to stay away from grains if I can.
I have fed the Diamond Naturals and my dogs did very well on it. The TSC that I go to would run out of it alot, so that is why I ended up going with the 4Health. I am probably going to go back to the Diamond Naturals chicken and rice. My 2 females do good on chicken, they seem to maintain their weight better. I have noticed with lamb and rice I have to feed at least a cup more a day than I do with chicken. They have really nice coats on the Diamond Naturals and their stool volume is very low. So I will just stock up when I go to make sure that I will not run out of food.
