I, not knowing the situation, can only assume that the father is abusive to his entire family, not just the child. How can you imagine that any person could act this way to one member of the family only. If there is a mom in the house, she has very likely been beaten down to accept this person's will as law. That sort of controlling personality gets off on the suffering of those around him. If you are familiar with the cycle of abuse, after an abusive episode there is usually a 'honeymoom' period, with promises of better days, presents, & lies. Let's hope the gifts don't include a puppy.

And if you think about an abusive situation, wouldn't it seem likely that this poor dog may have tried to defend her family? And the grades issue was just an excuse? I most sincerely hope that this incident was reported. Cruelty to animals usually precedes cruelty to people, & now they have lost their protector.....

Jackie.i have no doubt in my mind that git got rid of the ole girl for that reason,she was their only protector and she would have fought him to the death to protect, GOD HELP her and that family

you are right that is why this nut got rid of the old dog I do hope someone over thair reports him for abuse

So many idiots out there, I feel sorry for both the dog in the kill shelter and the boy

I rescued a GSD from almost the same situation a couple of years back, only the husband was taking the dog out back to the woods to shoot him. When a friend of the family called me at the office to ask if I could help, I left work to go grab him in the nick of time. He was a nice dog. I found a great home for him. His name was "Lucky", and he is!  I'll never forget the two young boys crying their eyes out, screaming "Take Him, Take Him! Fast!", terrified that their step father was going to shoot their dog. Heartbreaking.

The whole family was obviously abused. The dog actually had belonged to the husband's sister, who was dying of cancer in the hospital. I was glad to be able to get her a photo of Lucky with his new family, just a day before she passed. The mother of the boys told me it was the last thing the poor woman was still worried about, and that knowing her dog was safe gave her permission to leave this earth.

 So yeah, the man is a bastard, the poor kid and wife...good thing he is not in my backyard. I hate people!

Now, anyone in the area able to help this girl?

God I wish i lived near,I am thinking of this poor girl all the  time,is there anyone who can update us?
