Unfortunately here is the problem Kaigranny , the dog was NOT misrepresented to the consumer, it was at that time a healthy normal puppy with a testicle that was not descended - and that was wrote down on the contract. The buyer was NOT buying the puppy for showing or breeding, she had hopes of doing AKC Rally - which does not require for you to have testicles. The price to have a male dog neutered that has a retained testicle should not be more than having a female dog spayed of the same size. To me this is just and fair as long as the dog is otherwise healthy and a good pet.
An above poster suggested contacting the BBB. That is just wrong. For what ?? For not answering an email ? I don't think there has even been a phone call or REAL hard copy letter sent ( at least by reading her first post that is what I gather).. You just cannot go around slinging shit where ever you go because you have had one bad experience.
OP Gather your Vet records, or have your Vet write out the genetic defaults in a letter and send Sign for Delivery .. the legal way.
Its been so long now , and the fact that you did start an Online complaint instead of doing it the right way ( sending certified copies from your Vet before 10 days are up after finding it out). She may not even want to deal with you after starting something like this - and I would not blame her.

It's a sad situation - nothing is going to make this poor dog any better - the epilepsy is awful - my mom had a dog that had seizures and they are horrendous to go through with your pet. I agree with you as far as the BBB - and really it's too late for any sort of action other than for the owner to try to keep the dog comfortable and with a good quality of life. Pet owners have a responsibility to check out the Pet Lemon Laws in their state/county/country prior to purchase - for their own protection - also if someone wants to pay beaucoup $$'s for something that's up to them. Other folks talk about how much something is worth - I have a hard time putting a price on an animal I love.

I totaly aggree Kai . This a sad situation for the buyer and the dog.
What you choose to pay is not always reflective of what you are going to get. Some people are happy with their $50 mutt from a street corner, or a $2000 fancy show prospect. The deal is that your $50 mutt or the $2000 show prospect can each have a defect that could cause the dog and the owner pain in the future, and its a risk that all of us dog lovers take when choosing an animal. The only really diffrence is that if you get a dog from a breeder you have more ways of recovering , should you follow the law.

Oak34 ..Your right! My biggest grievance was that she never responded. I feel that a good breeder would at least have the courtesy to respond. She took my money and than washed her hands of the whole situation. I am not here to throw Alkarah under the bus. I posted to vent alittle and also was curious to see if any one else knew of the breeder or had a dog with epilepsy from her kennel. I am sure many people have purchased wonderful purebreed dogs from her, unfortunately I wasn't one of them. Also, I guess there could be a possibility that she never did receive my e-mail. I doubt it, because she seemed to receive all my initial e-mails fine when I was in the process of buying the puppy. Anyway, it is a very sad situation. Just trying to deal with everything the best I can.
