Pharaoh, I can only imagine how stressful it must be camping out in a motel! Yikes! I don't envy you AT ALL!
As for renos, I wasn't able to get the basement apartment fixed up before I moved. Sarah and her son are camping out down there with the pups, and it's dingy, cramped, and has the rug torn up in the main room, so the floor is a combo of subfloor and really old tile. I want to get my nephew in to put down a new floor, but my brother just moved (on Friday) so Ryan's been really busy helping his parents with THEIR move! Maybe I can snag him for later this week?
Sarah wanted Story to whelp here, as the neighbours at her home mostly have dogs, and Mom gets insanely protective when she has pups. Last time she charged right through the fence, and killed the neighbour's yappy Maltese! Sarah doesn't want to risk something similar happening again.
Can you please explain to me what it means to 'close escrow'? I'm not familiar with that term, though I guess it has to do with funds being released from an escrow account for the mortgage.

California uses escrow companies to coordinate all the closing documents and distribute the money.
Some states use lawyers for closings and things tend to be full of surprises.
When everyone has to send everything in to a third party independent agency, it tends to be clear what is going on.
With my house, I had an all cash buyer. Closing was scheduled for an early morning wire transfer into my bank account. I went to the escrow agency and signed everything I had to sign. The buyers had akready been there and completed all their paperwork. Since there was no lender to mess things up, all that had to happen was for the buyers to wire the money into escrow. They told me, my agent and the escrow agent that they weren't going to wait till the last minute, they were wiring the money on Wednesday.
I asked my agent to make sure that happened on time. If it were delayed, I would have missed a mortgage payment and incur a late fee.
On Wednesday I was packing and loading boxes into trucks. Suddenly, I noticed it was 5:00 PM and no one called me. I had a total New Jersey meltdown and just started calling and emailing everyone. It turned out that the buyers didn't wire the money!!!!!!! I did not let up. They all knew they would have not rest until it was handled. Thursday morning they wired the money and the transaction (especially the payoff on my mortgage) occured on Friday morning.
So, puppy boy and I are really enjoying our vacation. They feed me breakfast every morning and there is maid service. I just love it.

Hi Sunsilver!
Congrats on the new babies. Sorry on the loss of the one pup. Mother nature can be cruel, but knows best. My hat goes off to people that are breeders and deal with the happiness and the sadness when it comes to breeding dogs. I could not do it.
All the best!

How much lost sleep, and when will there be pictures?

Pharaoh-- Is that why I have meltdowns, 'cause I'm from New Jersey? LOL....my daughter does as well, she's a Jersey beach, too! Right now I could deal with maid service.....my husband has been laid off almost 1 year & I think we've hit critical mass, I'm working 40+ hours a week, all weird hours, too, so I'm always tired, & he, lately, can't even wash a freaking dish he's used. I love him, I think he's probably a little depressed, but .........!
'Nuff said......
Sunsilver, I'm sorry about your little lost pup. They are so sweet, it's hard to lose them, even when it's for the best.
I can't wait for pictures either, but you sure sound like you've got your hands full! So, you moved, & now you're starting a grooming business? I can't keep up.....I posted on the towel thread, too. Glad you're back.
**sigh** I'll keep checking back for pix...in the meantime, I guess I better start washing dishes. jackie harris
