My girl just passed away at the end of January 2010 she was almost 15 yrs.

About 13.5 years. But, I think this is too old. I won't be letting any more live so long that they look at all decrepit. Humans look pretty decrepit at an old age, and they are usually bedridden in the last several months or even years of life. Dogs are expected to look always in the peak of health.

And, as for the dogs... ? Well, it's too dangerous to keep them if they don't look good, anymore. Sick or old, doesn't matter.. Some animal control people will take the opportunity to grab them and put them down, then charge you with a crime (felony animal neglect). Not worth it. Dogs have to be PTS long before they get to looking bad or have trouble getting up.

The trouble is that they will grab ALL of your dogs, horses, cats, whatever, and say it's "for their protection", and then proceed to abuse and neglect them.. Most have abyssmal conditions, with overcrowding, fighting and endemic diseases. They know it, too.. They just aren't responsible for it.

PeTA kills a LOT of animals, according to their own statistics, so there can't be anything wrong with it, right?

Most of the dogs in DDR-s care were far younger and yet looked terrible because of the care they did NOT receive. They were kept in crates, lying for weeks in feces and urine, not fed etc.

DDR-DSH = Janice Bartmess = convicted for abuse/neglect.......although she will say it was AR activists and write novels defending the abuse.
