Thanks Jim, I appreciate your info. In the American conformation, the judge is required to touch each and every male that enters his ring, to be sure he has both testicles. Its no big sercet in AKC breed judging. Just seems like it is less often seen in AM bred GSDs than German bred. The Am breeders are very strict on the testicle issue. So IMO guess the Americans are doing a good job at least on that issue.
Please dont think I am bashing German breeders, I am not.. I just want to see the right things happening whether it is German bred or American bred.

Is it safe? As far as survivability it may be.
Mother nature knows best. To neuter the dog at 8 weeks testifies to the greedines of some vets who do not want to loose this busines to some other vet. I think it is atrocious. I always say if it is so beneficial to get neutered; well then why are you not doing it to yourself?
Sorry....

Exactly. I don't want my dog to just survive, I want him to THRIVE. Some vets get that, some vets don't.
To OP: Sorry for hijacking the thread a little...I saw a theoretical aspect to this and being a medical librarian in training, just sort of went crazy on PubMed looking for articles...
