Hodie, that's it, or very close to it. The image I remember had the decoy on the other side, facing the decoy, or so I thought. Also, I was quite sure it was on an urn... and that the animal was a tan colored dog. This appears to be some sort of large cat! But, I cannot think what kind of cat it might be..
The thing that IS very similar is that the head of the decoy happened to be cut off like this. So, this might be it. On the other hand, I seem to recall that the club was a darker color of brown.
I'm sure this must have been a popular exhibition for Etruscans.. baiting of humans with dogs and such.. The Etruscans basically invented the gladiatorial games which the Romans were better known for, later on. This particular sport must have been repeated in other depictions.. murals, urns and the like.. So, this may be a second example.
But, you see what I mean.. Schutzhund has been around for a long, long time! LOL.. No scratch pants, back then!
I also don't remember the animal / dog handler as being so big and looking rather like an Assyrian.

DDR,
I cannot think of what it must be to which you refer, so I do hope you can find it and post it. It is a really fun thing to do to talk about the history of art through dogs. I am writing a course to do just that now and it is a lot of fun to see how other civilizations and cultures interacted with dogs. Of course, how earliest humans interacted will probably remain speculation for lack of evidence.
Anyway, if you find what you are remembering seeing, please bring it here.
Regards.
