This might make the craziest product list for 2010 Who was the Sadist that developed this

I have a niece that is a High School Teacher, so I suggest that Petsmart make a charitable donation to her school (which is an inner-city school) so that she can have these attached to the seats of her students desks so that they will stay seated and possibly learn something.

Oh, I'm sorry.  The ACLU would consider that  inhumane.

Crap.  Well, let's go back to the dogs.  BUT LEAVE MINE OUT.

Their in enough shock just living with me.

Tuff.

It is reminiscent of the research conducted in the 1960's where dogs were shocked unless they touched a lever. Later it was rigged so the levers were inoperable. The dogs became confused and developed a condition known as "Learned Helplessness". The dogs behavior became so conditioned that later when put into a shock box with a very short wall, which the dogs could easily jump over, they simply laid down and whined while being shocked. This research was conducted to prove that humans develop a condition of "learned helplessness" in treatment resistant depression.

I believe these shock pads, used in a crate, would eventually lead to a similar response in some of the dogs.  It is scary to think this can still occur in this day and age when previous experiments (not outlawed) produce such negative effects with long term consequences. With all the current information available today, there is not reason for these type of products.
