I found a few others you might like, well, that I like! ....for a boy:
BURKE, DEREK, EMMETT, FRITZ, GUY, HAGAN, HEWITT, JAEGAR, KASPER, KEIFER, LANCE, LUCAS, STEFAN, MILES, OTTO, RICHART, RORY, VIKTOR, WILLIS, ZIGFRIED
Anyone can look up the meanings at this site:
www.babynamescountry.com/origins/german_boy_baby_names20.html
I know of kids in our public school system with many of these names, see highlights, and there aren't any life scarring issues concerning taunts, that I know of, and even if there is some teasing, it really is your kids personality that will make his name cool or not.

Ooh, I like Gunnar. I suggested Johann once, I think it got a hell no! I'm sure Jan would get me evil looks.
This is much more difficult than the first time, when my first husband didn't care so much. Now this is the first grand/great grand baby on his side and I have to please everybody it seems.

We named our son Niklas (which is the German way to spell Nicholas). My daughter's name is Nina (also very common in Germany). I can always find personalized merchandis for them when I go shopping in Germany.
Another great name for a girl in the German way of spelling is Sofie, or very popular right now is Jana (pronounced Yana) or Mia or Natalie or Pia. And of course, the nice name of Marie (my daughter's middle name). My cousin named her daughter Natascha (call name Netti). Some which are more rare would be Felicitas, Cosima, Liane, or Marina, Corinna, Ilona, Ilonka.
For boys, we like Daniel (my son's middle name), Mark(us), Peter, Jannik (pronounced Yannik), Benjamin, Pascal, Till, Timo - not necessarily traditional German names, but nethertheless popular. Newer male names are Costa (Greek) and Sascha (Russian). My co-worker has a boy named Nunez and a daughter named Izzy.
Here are the current 200 favorite names for girls and boys in Germany: www.beliebte-vornamen.de/3780-2000er-jahre.htm
If you spend some time on that site, it will tell you all kinds of names (from popular medieval ones to modern ones). My son's name is in 8th place, my daughter's on 42nd.
Have fun!

Wow I was really surprised to see Mattias and Matias on there! My husband is of Mexican ancestry and his name is Matias. My son is the FOURTH. Of course no one pronounces it correctly so we call him Matt, just like the other three in the family *sigh* (sidenote: in our family its pronounced Mah-tee-as)
I am the only one who calls him Matias.
I also love the name Nicholas! And Nicholai.
Heck if you can't come to an agreement there's always Ronnie's FRANKFURTER. Your son will never be teased over that one
Best of Luck and Congratulations. Babies are such a Blessing

Congratulations!!! When you see him, he'll tell you his name! I like Gunnar, too. Also like JAEGAR, both as a name & a drink...name the girl Brandy, you could have a theme.....LOL! Saddle him with a moniker that will build his character...! I caved & went with my husband's choices...Jennifer & Jesse....nice names that fit them ok....but I always wondered if I had gone with something like Aurelius, could be shortened to Riley, or Lee, or Russ; would having to live with a name like that be good or bad? Nah...stick with the alcohol based names............

I don't understand why men have a say in it at all. JOKING...LOL. I had Dylan James all picked out for 7mos, then the day he's born, all of a sudden his father decides he wants to incorporate part of his name in there, so he turned into James Owen (James after my cousin, and Owen is his dad's middle name). It's ok, I guess. Someday I will stop thinking of him as Dylan, I guess. LOL. Not Jimmy, ever. His name is JAMES, and he goes by JAMES. I don't like most nicknames.
Anyway...when I was looking to find German names for my first GSD, I found Caleb and I still love that name. If I didn't have a dog named Caleb, I would've named the kid Caleb. I also have a dog named Xander, incidentally, and also Mia, lol.
I vote for Caleb or Alexander (Xander), and so do Caleb and Xander!

Not German but for a girl I like Jocelyn, Happy, Joyful.
I like Josef or Joseph for a boy, Gunner is good.
Sorry Jim, I don't like that name anymore. LOL
You have time Michelle. You two will find the perfect name a dozen times before you really need it.

Conrad, or would that be Konrad with German spelling? It won't lead to teasing and name-calling in school. Sorry, but Wolfgang is just asking for trouble. There was a very sad kid named Wolfgang in my neighborhood. He was hit with Wolfman jokes all the time, was assumed to be mentally deficient and violent, all because of that name. The nicest things I recall were "Wolfie" and "woof woof." As a teenager, it became worse.
A kid named "Ulrick'(sp) had no problem. We just called him Ricky and rolled.
A girl named Analiese (sp) led a charmed life. Kids associated the name with fairies and princesses for some reason and she was initially liked because of her name. go figure...
This was in an American city with a strong German heritage and influence, btw.
