"Daryl: Navar was sold wonder who got the marvelous stud..."

Evidently Atila was sold as well, since last July.  Both dogs were used very extensively in the last couple years.  Sometimes their retired stud dogs are sold to someone who just has a fondness for strong dogs, who isn't necessarily interested in capitalizing on their investment by continuing their breeding career.  For example, Piko Bret Bet is here in Colorado with a (former?) police k9 handler.

There's also the matter that these dogs can potentially produce very strong offspring, not suitable for homes with handling experience of the "typical" household.  These aren't exactly your watered down DDR lines, working bloodlines for producing "pets".  In the case of Piko, it troubles his owner that his legacy will perhaps not continue here, but without having a "plan" for the pups, what can be done?  There's just not enough demand from qualified handlers, and the number of "breeders" seems to be growing much faster than the number of working handlers in this country.

Hey Daryl,
Do I know the former K9 handler that has Piko? I would be very interested in meeting up with him.

Last we spoke (APR/MAY?), he was in Co.Spgs, but may have moved since.  I can give him your number if you want.

I like Rookie's looks.  He just produced a litter with Tika.  They will have extreme pigment and their parents good looks.
They are on the ground and I think there are a couple without deposits.

They'll be gorgeous for sure.  Does the breeder compete though?  I originally thought that the OP wanted a dog to compete with, and that's why I thought van den Heuvel would be a great choice (although the breeder doesn't compete) and I missed the "bulky head" part altogether.  I can say though, van den Heuvel has some nice females, that I'd expect can produce that head type even with Orry.  For example, the one below is from a previous Orry X Diamond litter, and this repeat breeding is due 12/07/09.  Orry AND two of his sons who were also representing the Czech Republic in the WUSV 2007!
