It is good that your pup will see a vet.
Generally a tinge of red/blood is normal with any type of digestive upset.
I would boil some chicken and rice for the dog and feed that in the mean time, and, yes, as someone mentioned, a spoonful of canned whole pumpkin and maybe a tablespoon of plain yogurt (not low-fat, or, no-fat) per meal for a week, or so, will help.
I would also be very careful of your pup eating roots. A good friend lost her 1 year old female because of this. The dog was also digging up and eating some roots. The roots poisoned her. She became very ill, ended up going blind, and further deteriorated to the point where the she had to be euthanized.
Sticks aren't really a big deal. This is a natural thing that wolves and dogs chew on and eat.
I hope all goes well at the vet and your pup is healthy and back to her normal self soon!!!

TM - Did the puppy have a PARVO vaccination? Do you have an Emergency Vet Hospital close by?

So sorry to hear your pup is ill. Please know that a bunch of us are praying for you and your girl. I hope by morning she is nipping at your toes. Keep us posted!

All vaccinations are up to date and we were on our way today for shots when all this came about.
She's doing better (perkier) and ate a light supper mostly chicken broth.
Waiting to see if she holds it down, and if she goes outside to do her business.
I really don't see parvo but I'll let the vet see what he thinks tomorrow.
Thank you all very much,
Moons.

If you had some liguid Albon in solution...the yellow bonding kind....give the pup about 2 cc and then next day decrease half and give 1 cc.. This is a sulfa drug for intestional and digestion upsets and pregnant bitches are safe with it...it can help get to the minor problem.. I think you are just experiencing a very tenatious pup who like them all eats anything anywhere anyhow.....
'
'Keep some safe med in cabinet for such...you will after years of this find out what to do and not have to run to the vet..you will know as to what your pup does ...it they get into things...the kind of thing you describe is ususlly the outcome....if no parvo around and you have been vigilant as to not let strange people in and you spray all feet and shoes before entering property you wil know IT IS NOT PARVO...or distemper....
Hope for the Best....
Flagyll and Albon are two you should keep in your med cabinet along with amoxy and cephflexon....etc/
GOOD LUCK LET US KNOW>>>>

Dogs and puppies eat some of the most rediculas things.
Good luck with you puppy, I feel for you!
