I actually don't use the prong collar, I'm afraid of it. I took my dog to Shelley's with it, and had her show me how to use it, and have since found, I don't need it.
When I pick up my leather training collar and long lead, Duke knows we are heading to the tracking field, if I get the prong and leash, he heads for the truck. I take him where I work and practice OB with him their, with no collar on, just in my hand.
AND I PROMOTE SchH., all the way!!!!!

I thought the same thing as KCzaja, Kitkat. You've been on this board a long time, and you should have read enough by now to know exactly what Schutzhund is and that no one here involved in the sport condones abuse.
I really fail to see why you are asking this, when we just hashed this out a short time ago. You do go to a club, and see none of it, as you said, so obviously it is not the norm.
Should your dog enjoy the sport, be it show line, or working line?
Is that a rhetorical question or what? The answer seems blatantly obvious to me.

Carry on with this thead much longer and we will get a post saying Ban the ScH sport for it is too cruel, unless you are working with different people on a regular basis in the sport then i fail to see how anyone can know what really goes on in a club which is dedicated to the sport and take's great pride in what they do
The two clubs i belong too have run now for well over 60 years, and they do not survive that time unless the sport is well thought of and done correctly
For those you think it lucrative i can tell you what you will get when our club holds a Trial You will get a 7lb bag of dog food for competing win or lose, the winner will get a small cup that is it
The Judges get a dinner and drinks of there choice as do the Helpers there is no payment, The people do it for the love of the sport, not for what they get out of it of course they get the titles that is what they are aiming for and that is all they want
Plus the Bags of food are given by sponsers of dog food companies, the club in question usually charges 8 to 9 euros to compete, The trial i went to today was won by a dog bred by the kennel who bred young Izzy, which was good to see
Steve
When our club holds the Belgian Championship this year i expect the bags of food to be larger, and a bigger trophy for the winner but thats about it
Just one other thing
A couple from the UK came over to compete and put there dog through ScH1, now the cost of travelling plus the time involved shows that these people are very keen on the sport, he did get his Sch1 so they will go home tomorrow happy people
and although he lives in the UK he is a member of our club over here in Belgium affiliated to the VVDH, so he is allowed to compete
