I do read the Bible. Never enough. I have several versions, but my favorite is my Study Bible because it is written in layman's English and I like the little boxes, the asides that explain things, and the maps, arranged chronologically in the back of my King James reference bible, given to me on April 28, 1988 by Don Gidcum. He inscibed it as "presented to Shelley Roecker, by the Will of Jesus Christ." It took me another ten years to be babtized and ten more to really embrace the faith. some of us are pretty stubborn. I usually have two versions open at the same time, go back and forth between them. It takes forever to get through a book, sometimes skipping around, looking up scriptures to suit occasions that come up in life, but hopefully I'll live long enough to get through the whole thing a few times and be able to turn right to a good scripture when I, or esle somebody needs it... like YR and a few of my Christian friends do for me.
I haven't seen Don in years. I am pretty sure he is still ministering to sinners like me, ever patient. I remember he told me about his life as a sinner, darned good example BTW. LOL He didn't smoke, drink or engage in debauchery anymore by then, lived by example. I also remember him telling me that church wasn't the place to make an impression on sinners that needed faith. That's not where he was needed he said. Neither did he recite a lot of scripture straight from the bible. He conveyed the messages in layman's terms. He said they stuck better that way for the first while. Definitely grass-roots preaching. I was kind of mean to him, told him he'd convert more people if he got his teeth fixed. He did, and thanked me. Go figure. Obviously, I am still impressed with his style of ministry. He's probably led a lot more sinners to the faith than most of the pastors I know.

How will they know they are sinners unless christians use the word of God to convince them of their sin. Unless we use Gods judgement they will not be convinced they are sinner
It isn't the place of human Christians to tell another if they are a christian - Raymond!
Who are you to tell me if my faith is geniune? If I am worthy... Not you... who in the crap are you...A sinner just as me...
Steve1 simple said that if you where face to face to him he wouldnt appreciate your trying to convert him... I believe that the holy spirit works thru us to find those that are lost - the holy spirit knows if a person is reseptive of being talked to about him - he gives you the words to speak to those that have not found him - but one would have to ask - when you have to pound it into somebody's head about Jesus - and he is not reseptive - is it the holy spirit or your foolishness guiding your words. That sounds like a mans pride and stupidity and not the Lord working....it is Raymond's words not Gods.....
God works on people a little at a time and in his on good time - and it is not a human sinner that makes that call..

and I have several friends who are the pastors of these churches...They did not gradiate from Dallas Seminary or Liberty College..
THe prison ministry is one of their great endeavors...and they also have a Harley group of Christians who ride thru Texas witnessing to people on rides, in parks , at rest stops and in Womens Centers..
THE people do not stand on ceremony...they don't care what you look like, what you wear , they are just concerned with your Soul.
I have some friends who just go to the prison here in Huntsville and visit and take info and gifts of need to the men and women...They do talk about God and try to witness and help those behind closed locked doors...They just have a gift for making people feel special and know how to Love the Unlovely..
The Church is not a building...it is the body of Christ.with Him as the head........you and I , and the people..like Shelley , who share their life and how they overcome..People like Raymond, who once were grizzly bears and now have a new life. .People ... " I am the VIne and you are the branches......."
