OGBS

by OGBS on 02 June 2009 - 00:06

Moons,
I'll answer this. It will hopefully help to educate a little.

WOW,
My ears have been ringing all day, now I know why.
OGBS you definitely did not make a very good impression did you. (Your opinion. I have many more personal messages from people who support me.)
I don't care where anyone spends their money. (Agree, already posted so) I do know that Internet ads like the one you posted take in a lot of money that does not make its way to the animals and thats my point about rescues. (Couldn't be more wrong. You are talking about a tiny rescue operation here.)
Not for profit (Wrong, they are a 501c3 non-profit) does not mean that people are doing anything for free does it. (I can't speak for others, but, I'd be glad to have you come by and show you how we're $40k in debt and that no one profits from anything involved with my rescue organization and all involved do it for free. All expenses are paid out of our own pockets and from adoption fees of $100/cat and $150/dog) I'm sure they eat well. (As opposed to breeders who are going hungry???)
From Missouri to Illinois, how does that work?(It is simple. In Missouri, one of the leading puppy mill states in our country, they have many shelters and pounds in rural areas overflowing with homeless pets, as do most states. Most, 95% plus, would never make it out through adoption alone. Some of the more organized shelters/pounds take pictures of the animals and send out e-mails to rescue groups in the nearest metropolitan areas. When a rescue has room they take in from those shelters/pounds. There are usually transports co-ordinated every weekend to transfer the animals. A pet underground railway of sorts.)

The scam (it's not a scam, educate yourself) is using this little unfortunate puppy to solicit donations thru the Internet, those are Peta (I also loathe PETA. They are truly the scum of the earth. Please understand that most rescues do not allign themselves with PETA either.)tactics and I find it distasteful and corrupt. The puppy may or may not have been better off put down I don't know, but if these vets and surgeons really had a passion for saving animals why then do they need 700 bucks. (From someone that has many times paid for food and medical for cats and dogs and not been able to eat myself I have often asked myself the same question. The truth of it is that a veterinarian, just like your doctor, dentist, or any other person that goes to work on a daily basis is there to make money. It's a job. If your best buddy growing up always talked about how much he loved garbage and then was lucky enough to become a garbage man, if that's luck, would you bemoan him for being paid to do this?  We have this misconception that veterinarians are animal lovers and therefore should work for free. Why should they? $700 is pretty cheap for this type of surgery. My guess is that they are doing it for 50% off judging from Bob's post, or more. His Mother's was at least six years ago. This is now and with an orthopedist. They are extremely expensive. I would have thought more like $2200-$2500)

Anyway you expressed your opinion and I amoung others have expressed theirs, so whats your problem. (Your's was not an opinion. It was a personal attack against me. I do not take that lightly!)
You wouldn't happen to know how much moneys in my checking account would you? (This doesn

(Con't)

You wouldn't happen to know how much moneys in my checking account would you? (This doesn't even make sense????) Seemed like you were standing in my shoes for a second there.
I really posted 4402 times? Wow, now its 4403 times. LOL...
I'm glad you came back to discuss it, its a forum ya know. Ads have a section of their own. I feel for that little puppy as I do all living things, but I don't think its any more worthy than any of the rest. (Again, I agree, but, this is a dog forum, not an underpriveleged kids forum.) Its a choice I do not have to make.
You go on and rant and curse all you like, it means little to me, sorry I upset you so. (Apology accepted!)
I stand by my original post, its a scam to me. (I am sorry that so much negativity has found its way in to your life. Not everyone is bad. Most of the people in rescues are not your enemy. They are nice people hoping to make a difference in an area that they choose. There will always be those that will try to take advantage of situations. I do not believe this is one of them.)
Thanks for reading,
--Steve

Whatever.

OMG, someone tries to help an animal and you get all this crap!
Shame on you all.
Our club called the vet and the bill is going to be $700.00. And they won't
do the surgery until they get the money.
We are a GSD club, but we plan on sending money to this vet.
To whom it may concern: I sure hope your family members feel you are worth it when you break your
hip and need surgery....afterall you might have something else wrong with
you down the road.
I am ashamed at the hatred that goes on this site. If you don't want to contribute, that's fine, but
not everything in life is a scam. Talk about cynical people!

Bad language maybe.

Beaugsd
You remarks are out of order regarding the hatred that goes on this site from the members and i am one of them and i gave my thoughts on the Pups for its best well fare and what the new owner may have to put up with later on
However you call it hatred because some of us do not agree with your own thoughts on the way things should go for the Pup
Now lets get down to the nitty gritty of the problem
It is said that the Vets are doing the Operations on a a reduced fee, good for them
You then say they will not operate until they are paid the $700, NOT good for them.
If they had any feeling they would operate then trust your people to come up with the money
NOW, How is it all you people cannot raise $700 between you, do not give me any rubbish about having hard times or a family to raise etc and money is tight, You know what you are doing in this case and there fore should see it through for the Pup, for had it been me in your place the Pup would have had the operation by now not wait to see if a lot of strangers would put there hands in there pockets to pay for the operation, and as for the Pup not suffering pull the other leg, of course it is suffering not in the way we may but it is never the less, and if the good people on this site agreed to help by the time you get the money in could be several weeks,
Get your club members to put there hands in there pockets, they started this, now finish it in the proper manner, have the Pup have the Operation or do the kindest thing for the little girl do not keep slagging us off because we do not think the same as you do,
Me i will help anyone if i can and i am on a pension and not big at that, but in this case i know what i would do for the Pup and it is not patching it up for it to suffer more later in life, to put it down i would gladly pay for that but not what you want the money for

Steve1,
So there is no misunderstanding about this. The puppy is not from BeauGSD's club. She is a member of a club that happened to also find out about this puppy. Her club is offering to take up a collection to help the puppy. They are involved in no other way.

Brent (aka, Two Moons),
Your comment of "whatever" only serves to prove my original point about you!
It's amazing how many have pm'ed me and feel the same way.

Okay, that is a pet peeve of mine.  OGBS, please don't 'talk' of 'how many' are on your side as if it builds your case, or makes you right.    It sounds too much like a bully  in a school yard.

To all you (many many minions) that agree with OGBS, but haven't got the balls to say it to Moons face, please take your balls out of your purse and post it on here.

Marvelous,
You sound like someone who keeps a score board on the refrigerator.
The (whatever) meant Its not worth arguing about.
You really did take it personal didn't you.

You win !!!

Now be done with it.
