Good luck with them, Steph. It's amazing what a real correction that makes an impression can accomplish at a young age. Making a 90 pounder believe you hold the keys to life and death is a MUCH bigger job!

I wish these GSD's were only 90 pounds, s*** one is 115 and losing, and the other is 120...They were way overweight when I got them...the one I got yesterday still is, but he is a gorgeous dark sable. 4 1/2 yrs old...seen below...

My girl most definately had a temper tantrum.  She was about 10 weeks old and I had her on her back laying between my legs with her head between my ankles so I could trim her nails.  I do this so I can see the quick on the black nails and control her at the same time.  I was working on her back paws and no, I did not quick her.  But she had decided she had had enough and went Cujo on my shoes.  I mean she was growling and snapping and thrashing around.  I quickly grabbed her and held her down on her side by her scruff and loudly snarled at her and did not let her up until she calmed down and looked away.  It was quick, decisive and over in a matter of seconds and I was able to finish her pedicure.  At almost 8mo we still do her nails this way but we don't have anymore temper tantrums.  She had a few temper tantrums in her crate the first few nights after we brought her home but we ignored those.  And trust me, she wasn't crying for her mommy.  She barked and snarled and tried chewing through the bars on the crate.  She wasn't lonely, she was pissed off!  She loves her crate now but back then, hoo boy!  Nights were less than tranquil.  This girl has attitude.  I love her to death but we do butt heads from time to time.

Hey Steph,

Is he the one you were telling me about that had such a tough "good bye" from his owner that decided he was too much to have around children?  He is gorgeous!

She has a very intelligent look about her.

Okie,
Yes she is very intelligent...she has a nose on her that doesn't quit...if someone could handle her she would be a great SAR or tracking dog...came from a breeder in Shelby MT that retired and wouldn't take her back...can probably get AKC papers from the lady I got her from if I tried..
Like I mentioned, both are available...I actually get lots of good dogs into rescue...some are your poor bred backyard dogs but lots are great...have an 8 month old solid black boy that is awesome too. He is not on the website, cause he is too special...he has a special place in my heart and will only go to someone that would appreciate him...LOL...I can't keep them all either...darn...
