Okie Amazon thanks. My friend who bought a pup from Arko litter already contacted him for me. He doesn't have anything for me at this time.  She just received a email from Mike and he said his dogs are usually on the high end ($6k+) for a adult  dog. he seldom has a green dog for $3k.

RDH: Slamdunc--what criteria do you look for when finding a K9? I would think Malinois would be on top of the list.

We look for dogs with strong drives and temperament.  We want dogs that are civil, high defense and prey drives.  No environmental issues, no gun shyness.  We have a series of tests that we do when evaluating dogs.

We look for suitable dogs, we don't look based on breed.  Although some handlers have their preferences, I like GSD's.
Many of our handlers prefer mali's.   I would definitely consider a mali for my next Police dog, they are great police dogs.  Malinois are high on the list, they only ones available at the time had some issues.   One ate several handlers and was returned to the vendor.  He was too much dog for a new handler, another had been x-rayed and had a leg problem.

RDH, my dog just turned 3 years old.  In my case, I raised this dog from a pup.  I got him at  7 weeks.  He is the dog in my avatar.  I bought him as a pup with the intention of competing in SchH or using him as my police K-9, if there was an opening for a dog and handler.

He is a very high end dog, super grips, genetically hard and full.  High drive, very high drive, but clear headed.  He makes the mali people jealous.  He is off the charts in prey drive, hunt drive, ball drive and tracking drive.  He is rather civil and has high defense drive a well.  He is also a pretty hard dog, he handles corrections but his temperament never gets squelched, he is very resilient.  He has no handler aggression and a fun loving almost clown like spirit with me and my wife.   However, he is not the dog you bring to a family picnic.  He is a dominant dog and does not like strangers petting him.

The going rate for a green K-9 in my area is about $6500 to $7000.  I would estimate my dog to be worth significantly more than this at the time I was looking for a K-9.  So I donated the dog to my PD to be used as my K-9.  We have a great bond and I love working with this dog.

He is excelling as a police K-9.  We apprehended a felon with a probation violation for rape after a foot pursuit, track and a fight  on his first day.  We have had several apprehensions and two bites in his first couple of months on the street.  He also excelled as a SchH dog, I am going to try to compete with him in SchH and Police K 9 competitions if my PD allows it.  I've trained with Bernhard Flinks, Armin Winkler and Debbie Zappia and they have all commented that he is a national level SchH dog.

Several people on the PDB have met "Boomer" and have seen him work.  I couldn't be happier with  this dog at home or working the street.  Here's a link to his pedigree:  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/469183.html

Slamdunc---WOW that is amazing. Im impressed!!!! GOOD WORK!  He sounds like a great dog and you two have a tight bond. I wish i could get a pup right now but its my best interest to get a young adult for now. I've just recently watched a leerburg video with Benard Flink in it. Sounds like a very well educated trainer.  May I ask what breeder you received your pup from...any website? you can pm me if you don't want to post it here.  Yeah, I like a reserve dog with strangers. I hate it when I go places and random people just have to come up and pet my dog...lucky for them she is overly friendly.

It  looks to me you raised a great gsd, patrol partner, and companion. I hope to do great things when I find the gsd that fits what I'm looking for in PSA and possibly french ring. I love it when dogs nail the bad guys...reminds me of K9 cops on animal planet...gives me adrenline rush. Just reading what you wrote about his first day and how many suspects he caught gives me a adrenline rush. Its dogs like those that I admire and keep these streets safe...including you and the officers to....lol

Keep up the Excellent work!!!

oh yeah thanks for the insite as well i appreciate it.
