In a way, I am sorry that no videos were taken.  The protection of the working males at this Siegershow was an absolute joy to see.  I especially took pleasure in seeing John Henkel taking his at that time to-be VA Quizno out.  The work was all done off leash.  If anything happened as a result of the videos taken last year is that the bar was raised.

All other comments as far as I am concerned, are unfounded.  The dogs did what they had to do and passed and it was so much better than in 2008.

Congratulations to all competitors!

Everyone who clamors for "form and function"  together appears to have been asleep at the wheel.  LOL  There are many workingline dogs that make "V kkl1" thank you very much.  There is no need to dilute the working abilities to get "good structure" unless you add the worthless qualifying characteristic of "black and red" pigment... "worthless" in the sense of bringing true working character to the table, which is a function of drive and temperament and not appearance.

Maren, I'm afraid I cannot join your jubilation over the lack of video footage.  Unfortunately as has been demonstrated at previous SS, the quality of bitework that is described as "excellent" by some is rubbish to others.  I hope that video IS published so that ALL can view and make up their own minds as to what appears in the raw video.

SchHBabe, I suggest you read my comment before you respond to me.

Yvette, Let's make a pact to make sure there IS video covered at the SS next year. If it is East Coast, you go and video the performance segment. If it is West Coast, I will do it. :-) There seems to be much less debate about the performances, when video is posted.

I didn't say V rated, I said VA rated. I'd love to see a gorgeous working line dog in any accepted color place in the VA ratings.  And I'd love to see a gorgeous showline place high in the BSP.  I don't think either is an unreasonable thing to aim for.

I know there are people here in this forum who have expressed the opinion that they don't care if their GSD looks like a coyote (not you SchHBabe) as long as it can do schutzhund. There are also people here who want a Malinois in a GSD body.  Those two things are unreasonable to me.

Looks like no one took video in the rain, which I guess isn't too surprising. But people haven't been home long, some could still show up.

I am glad that I am NOT in the "Dog World" so-to-speak.  I read this site a lot to get helpful tips on various GSD issues.  From an outsider's observation, there seems to be a lot of snarky comments regarding Working Line vs Show Line.   From what I can determine, it appears that the two lines are distinctly separate - each with their own achievements.   I suppose when you look back at the history of the GSD, this divide was not supposed to happen; but, nothing stays the same.   There are people who prefer the Showline and those that prefer the Working Line  - and I am sure there are people who appreciate BOTH lines.

Nia, that thought has crossed my mind before!

Unfortunately with the heavy rain in Chicago it was not a "camera friendly" environment so I'm not surprised that we don't see oodles of video.

Maybe next year the SS will be somewhere in Arizona or Nevada.  LOL

Ah heck... maybe I'll enter myself with Kona.  I own a screenprinting biz so I'll print up "Team Coyote Ugly" shirts, and on the back... "Because someone has to fill the bottom of the class"

I was just on the phone with the show secretary and she says that there was a guy filiming the protection, at least for the males.  She has no clue about his name--typical.
