I am taking the class. Teacher doesn't like german dogs and is not interested in helping............

Will be happy to hire a handler, but must teach dog before sending to the handler......this is a really big circle.

I have decided to get a rubber mat, drive hours to someone who shows german gsd's and pay them to stack the dog as  put tape "x's" where their feet are supposed to go..........I will not learn how to stack my dogs in just one lesson, so I will need some type of guide for practicing at home.........

yes the stilts look a bit funny, but if they serve the purpose for someone like me who is beginning and doesn't have anyone abailable close by to help, then I don't mind looking silly for a while if the meens justify the ends......

The teacher doesnt like German Dogs????? What kind of crud is that????? They shouldnt be teaching, then- its not their job to judge, but to TEACH! Sheesh! That has to be majorly frustrating! I wasnt the worlds greatest stacker, but Joss did learn basically what I wanted him to do, just by me practicing with him. Then, when his handler, showed him it wasnt a strange situation for him, and he knew what was expected of him. I think if you will have a handler, its more about getting him used to being set up, and stacked, then you setting him up perfectly. its just practice practice practice..

Why don't you stack him in front of a mirror then you can see exactly what you are doing and practice, practice. I do that with my puppies, we also practice whilst on walks so that she gets used to being stacked with distractions.

Hero is the only GSD in the class, other include some Dobies, Veisla(sp) Yorkie and other assorted dogs of assorted sizes.

the teacher like akc american shepherds. she isn't impressed bszs lines.........she is even a gsd judge! all she had to say about my dog when i asked was "he's 7 months old, its an ugly stage".

i keep my mouth shut, and do what i can to learn what i can........hopefully it will help when the handler comes in to run him in circles.

very frustrating.....

They're spendy, but I always enjoy seeing American ingenuity on display. Having said that it's been my experience that top handlers stack dogs differently depending on the judge and the class.
