All I know is I can't watch the Dog Whisperer with a straight face anymore. I haven't been able to since the first time I walked into PetCo and saw him beaming from labels everywhere I looked. Bottled water for dogs!!! WTF?!

Sango: You go from one extreme to the other, nobody said anything about stuffing your dog...
And I repeatedly watched that clip, It was about a year ago, and NG changed the webpage so i couldn't find it anymore. but i think ,but don't nail me on it ,it was episode 14 or so. but since you never missed an episode you probably will find it faster. It is about a black GSD, getting aggressive/chasing the cat, he has the cat in the crate and the dog in the room, Mr Milan sits on a little bench or so if I remeber correctly. You can hardly see the ecollar, but you can see the buckle pretty clear, but even better you can see the avoidance behavior from the dog, You can pinpoint when he got zapped. At first I was with disbelive, too. cuz I thought that looks a lot like an ecollar buckle, but nothing had been said, and then clearly the rection you get with an ecollar, when you critter a dog. Look closely and you will see. I even went on the blog where the owner is, but oh wonder i never got an answere to my question... No answer is an answer,too... IMO
I am not diagreeing with you on the leadership is needed and some people just don't know what they are doing... but i thought science and dogtraining were further than these methods Millan demonstrates...
KCsaja: Well said, I just have seen a couple of episodes of the Monks so I don't know much, read the book though, liked a lot of things in it.
Marisa: No shit... that is exactly what I said... but i got hit first by the placemats and then the dogfood.... I about cracked up in the store....

I guess the Dominatrix look is part of her "show biz thing" but I find that, and everything else about her irritating as hell. I saw her idiotic "advise" on the few minutes I could stomach of that moronic Greatest American Dog TV show, and I saw her with the broom bullshit on her own show. These shows are all about sensationalism and entertainment, I seriously doubt anyone has learned much from either show as far as applying the techniques to their own situation successfully. A person needs to be able to read a dog to determine what will or will not work in any given situation, most pet people can't do that, consequently their view of what is going on with their dog is skewed, which is why they need the services of an actual good trainer, or training group, not some stupid TV show.
As far as Cesar Milan, I actually liked some of what I saw on the first season, but it all went downhill quickly. Nowadays I see where people can spend big bucks to buy his videos, and sign up for some virtual training bullshit. I guess on these virtual training classes the "students" get to submit a question over the net that "might" be picked to be answered by Cesar. What a crock.

They are both WAY better than Barbara Woodhouse! anybody see the live episode where Barbie tried to get thehorse in a trailer. I laughed so hard tears ran down my face. byt the end of the segway Barbie was ready to chike the SOB, her hair hanging down, sweat-soaked, clothes a mess, and the horse never did go in the trailer. Definitely Hall of Fame.

While I was unable to find the Barbara Woodhouse vs horse episode, I did find a pretty weird/wacky Barbara Woodhouse episode with William Shatner and his dobermans.

Cesar Season 2 Episode 14
I tried to find the episode with spike but just could find this clip...
Beside the fact that this one is hilarious,I put this clip here so you can see the e-collar use I was talking about. You can se the buckle blinking now and then, the remote in Cesars hand (while he is still standing and the reaction of spike when he get's zapped...
Still if one finds the whole clip it might be better, but you still can see if you look.

Victoria DOES look a lot like an S & M Dominitrix, doesn't she? I wonder if there is a hood and a cat-o'-nine-tails in the trunk of that Jag? Caesar Milan, is one of the sexiest dog trainers alive IMO, right up there with Oscar Rojas, Steve Miller, Clay Meadows, Helmut Raiser and Josh Scutt.
