Look, it can be fun. That's one of the reasons the word "splurg" was used by one of the posters. Think tarot cards and astrology charts. Some people get them for the fun of it, not because they intend to base their lives or decisions on it.

My two year old female is about 64 lbs, and actually a 1/4 inch over standard, and I get people on the street asking me if she's a puppy all the time. When I say no they ask "isn't she kind of small for a gsd?" You should see their face when I tell them actually, she's a tiny bit too tall.
People just have this weird perception that a gsd is supposed to be some giant breed, I wouldn't take the comments from them too seriously.
