I just want everyone to know, I finally used this, I was waiting for nice weather for using this outdoors and I swear my dog lost 5 lbs. I brushed him regular first and then used this Furminator, and Sitas Mom, you are right, dust bunnies diminished, amazingly. I'll have to get a picture tomorrow. I think it did a great job getting out the undercoat and leaving the topcoat. (Still haven't got around to getting him acclimated to the Pedipaws, though. Mojo is actually so easy to toe clip compare to my other dogs.

That's the key. don't try to "brush" with it. Just lightly drag it across the dog. I haven't had any cut hairs using it. I will loosen with the rake first then run the furminator over the dog.  I would be buried in hair bunnies w/o it.

I have one I bought 2 years ago, I use it maybe once a year on my older girl, she blows coat like crazy, & it helps with that. I've found if you use them too much it does thin out the coat considerably, can't use it on my boy at all, he's not as bushy as my girl, but it really helps with her butt fuzzies! The birds love it, too! There's about a 1/2 ton of dog hair in the yard after we're done, & I noticed that they were taking the fur into their nests.....one of them built a condo.... jh

Oh yeah. The birds seem to notice when I come out with a dog and a furminator in hand. Looks like a re-make of Alfred Hitchcock as they line up to wait. Thirty minutes later, no more hair in the yard!

I wouldn't use it all the time, but at this time of year, to get all that off, well, the difference was a sham-wow moment.

Best is a rake, comb and sliker, but if you can get one a blaster is fasntastic, blows away all dead hair and all the dust too, leaves the coat pristine, I love mine !!!!!  I would NEVER hava a furminator within sight of my dogs !!!!!

after using the furminator for a complete coat blow season I have to say that I really love it. I spent much less time picking up dustbunnies, it works as good as the tv adds.......

They sell a very similar brush to the furminator from Wal Mart called the Fur Buster.  It runs around 20$ and you can get replacement heads for it for about 10$.  We have had it for over a year now and really like it.  It worked great on our dogs especially our female who is a huge shedder.
