i really appreciate the encouragement from everyone about this. i would love to know how many others have their dogs involved in therapy work. i believe there are quite a few and it would be great for people to share their experiences with the newbies. i will always make sure angus goes poop BEFORE a visit (thank you blueshep!). for all those who have gone before me, please please share. i really enjoy reading about people's schutzund or herding successes, but i will never do that. i would really like to read about SAR and therapy work. and again, thank you to all who encourage anybody to do therapy work.

Angusmom, when my wife had to have surgery about 3 years ago I got to see first hand how important therapy dogs are. While we were waiting for the nurses to come and take my wife to surgery I saw a lady with a Bernese mountain dog walking in the halls and I jumped up and waived her into our room. I was amazed at how the dog being there took the stress out of the room.
My wifes surgery went well and I always remember how that lady and her dog made things just a little bit easier for our family that morning. Good luck, I think you will enjoy the feeling you will get by making people feel good.
