While I completely disagree with your opinion of working line dogs, I 100% respect your right to choose the type of GSD that's best for you!  The link I provided above is to Ted's show line male, who is a good worker.  He might be able to point you in the right direction of a show line breeder who would have the type you are looking for.  He is in Los Angeles County, but on the border of Riverside County, which isn't too far from San Diego.

I love my house monsters.  Wouldn't trade them for anything.  I do wish you luck in finding something to fit your expectations.

I think Witmer-Tyson's breeding program speaks for itself. I think it would be well worth your time contacting them for a regarding a dog.

I think you will be surprised at the way all puppy litters behave.  My last litter out of the much bashed Ingodd's Albert behaved much the same way you are describing,  three were able to climb over a 36" baby gate at 6 weeks old and ripped several pairs of pants.   It was hilariours to go in the wheling room with them as the 7 would team up on each pant leg and pull like crazy, inflicting bite wounds on my ankles and calfs while they were at it!  I looked like I was in a cat fight for weeks due to all of the wounds on my arms and hands.  Each one alone could be convienced to behave, however as a group they had a mind of there own, bent on distruction and fun as seen through the eyes of a pup

They will not be cute coudly well behaved pups until they are trained to behave whether, show, working, american lines ect.  they are puppies!!    Maybe you need a differnt breed??  Goldens are a bit more reserved.
