No tigermouse there is no offense, and I understand where you coming from as well, but hips xrays I think should be used to evaluate your breeding stock, or if there is obviouse issue with the dog, other than that I don't see much use for them for average dog owner, or many working people.
But the weight issue I notice that many owners that care for their dogs tend to overfeed it :) more is not always better. :)

Snajper69, Information is always useful. I would encourage everyone to score their dogs, it's important to see who's producing what and with a big dollop of luck we may one fine day... get to grips with HD!
Survival of the fittest is right... to a point, I have to say you are the only person I know of who walks their 4 month old pups 3 miles per day... that makes it even more interesting to know the scores of your dogs... seriously, I would like to know and I bet others would too!

Yes, Missbeeb, it would be interesting to know. I have always limited excercise of puppies/young animals just incase!!!!

Yeah... me too!

3 miles is nothing, I would not touch a dog that won't do at least 3 miles a day at that age. My dog first day on the field was at 8 weeks, you never seen or heard of that either? Maybe you just hang around the wrong type of people :). Or maybe I hang out around wrong type of people I guess it works both ways? LoL sorry but I don't pamper my dogs, it worked for me, my father, my grandfather, and it works for the wild animals as well. :) Civilization always made everyone week :) that is the way it works. But don't worry guys I am planning to get the scores on that one, and the next few, just for research :) and I am aiming for fair :) don't need or care of anything better (I'll take it if it is there, but won't spill no tears over it). And I will be more than happy to share it with you guys. I always said I will take a dog with fair hips that was worked hard from early age, over a dog with good hips that was pamper without even thinking twice about it. BTW a lot of people that I know, that are into total working dog (not sport, not show, but truly working dog) have exactly the same approach. Is the breeders, and sport people that are into hips scoring :)

Snajper69, Well, I will be very interested in your results.
I can't imagine any puppy "on the field" at eight weeks... God help it! I pamper mine, always have, don't feel bad about it either. It takes all kinds to make a world, right?

BTW there is no research supporting the argument that limiting exercise will prevent the hips problems is there(I would love if someone could point me out to one)? Is just an assumption? I always said if the dog is week than it will be week and nothing will change that, and if the dog is of good quality than some exercise and work will not stop him from reaching a full potential, by age of 2 my dogs usually have nicely developed mussels, and you can truly appreciate them in motion. But yeah my dogs are always on the lean side, which is one thing that I make sure of, so it won't put too much stress on the joints and bones. As well I don’t let my dogs jump off anything higher than 2 feet (yean anything under is fine by me) LET THE DOG BE DOG. SO FAR WE PEOPLE JUST PROVED THAT WE KNOW HOW TO SCREW UP A DOG, HARDLY EVER WE MADE IT BETTER; LOOK AT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH OUR BELOVED BREED.

No problem Missbeeb, I don't see nothing wrong with your approach either, it is a personal choice that we make. But neither one is supported by any research so saying one is better than other is wrong, that’s all. And there is a lot of things that you can do with 8 weeks old puppy, I believe in putting my dogs in different situations every day, increasing their stress threshold, it worked for me and it worked for my grandfather, and it worked for all my dogs. And I am pretty sure that my 16 weeks old now would jump of a roof for a sleeve at this point and her littermate is even more intense. So there is more than one way to skin a cat.
