How do you treat a 13 year old..... - Page 3

If you can remember back that far, we all went through this same stage!  He's a boy and he's 13 years old.  We don't know anything, he knows it all and you won't be able to tell him any different.  He will come out of it.  Give him a couple of years!  That's about what it's going to take!!!  Try a 13 year old step son, now that's a tough one.......

I love the cat story. I also fought the idea of the car and cell phone issuse, but I was to scared I would be forcing them to get into a car with friends that drank and drove, cell phone=gilrls, to afraid if broke down on the road. I remember the Denise Hubner story and never forgot it. She got a flat tire on the freeway and was found years later in a freezer. So When they got a car they got a cell phone. Now that I think on the cat story, they did have some raised in glass jars. Raising childern is scary, you do  the best you can with what you have at the time.

This is a funny story, My kids gone off to college and one of the kids I use to pick up from a party and deliver home safe, was drinking at a bar with friends, he calls me about 1am and he tells me he still has my cell number in his cell, tells me he has been drinking and would I mind to come and get him and take him home. The next day he brought me flowers. My husband and I use to fight about this, he felt I was giving permission for this behaviour, I told him get his head out of the sand, it is going to happen and I just want them SAFE. Kids are going to do stuff we all did, my thing was just finding safe ways home for them.

Thanks to all of you, it made my life a little easier, to know I am not alone ! After consideration, I will not PTS him !

No, I love him dearly, and I guess that is what makes it so hard sometimes !

Anyways, thanks for all your suggestions & thoughts, especially from those peopel that do care & and are not using this board for just ranting !
