Palestar

Tina, Uh...DUH.....did you even bother to read the thread before implying that I am not doing what I can to find the owners?

This dog was going to be killed by ANIMAL CONTROL on Monday had a frined not told me there was a Shepherd in need and I dropped everything to go get him.

I have posted and called not only my state but all the bordering states.  Stayed home from my real paying job to take care of this dog.  I KNOW he has to have an owner out there missing him. He's healthy, never been abused by the way he acts, well socialized, and more.

So before implying that I am some evil lady just out to keep someone's dog....at least read the thread.  If that were the case why the hell would I even post this here?

As to your question of what if it were one of my dogs?....Well, it would probably be on CNN News knowing me and my big mouth and persistence....and would surely involve at least three local stae and federal law enforcement agencies...Blood Hounds, helicopters, fingerprinting......the works.

Geez....some people

Don't let it bother you palestar,

If the owner was trying very hard to find the dog you would have already found them.

If the animal control was getting ready to put the dog down, and you saved it, it is your's now.

Do with it what you will.

Thank You Two Moons......

It just made me mad.  Here I am with 17 dogs, 1/2 of them rescued or dumped by others, and I drop everything to save yet one more....only for it to be implied that I just "scored big" and that I am not trying to find the owners?!   Grrrrrr........GRRRRRRR

Not to mention all of the thousand rescues I have had to come upon this past week that break my heart....

Wishin you and the big guy best of luck.... I was blessed by a GREAT group of rescue and Dog friendly folk when my Shepherd Duke was lost durring a Winter accident this past winter. He was seen about a week later a few miles from the crash, and the folks helped me keep food warm blankets in a sheltered area.  Let me put a live trap in their shed... and finally helped me find where he'd stopped worn out after a Thunderstorm (his #1 terror).  5+ weeks after the crash, and many hours hobbling thru the woods in snow up to my knees.  Duke and I were reunited, to BOTH of our great joy.

So a hats off to folks like you who help the lost ones on their way home.  I lost a 14K truck that night, and was in extreem pain for months after, but my partner and I and both our Shepherds survived... so we just count our blessings.

For sure you are going to heaven. I hope you find either the owner or that perfect home for this handsome dude.

Two Moons your dog is awesome. It looks like you work him well.

To the poster: its always good to know that there are still people like you out there. Good luck finding its owner, and if you won't I hope you will enjoy the dog.

"and he will never see the inside of a shelter, Ever..."

Palester -

I am sorry to have offended you. I certainly didn't mean to. I just reread your original post and I am still understanding that the dog was never turned into Animal Control but I could be misunderstanding. Animal Control can not legally take a dog who was a stray and kill it immediately. There has to be a "hold" period but it now sounds like the dog spent his time in "hold" and you rescued him from the shelter and his time was up. Either way it is great that you have him. As an ACO I deal with many people who assume a dog on the street is automatically from a bad person and I like to remind people that there could be SO many different scenerio's. I myself was in a bad car accident many years ago and one of my dogs got out of the truck and ran down the highway before I noticed and I didn't find him until the next day because the State Police chose to not give a hoot even though they had reports of him running down the exit ramp. he was a GSD and the cops were afraid of him. My other dog was with me but bleeding profusely from the head and I had a broken arm and a totalled vehicle and my plea's to the Troopers fell on deaf ears until one said he was picked up by someone and on his wasy to my town AC Kennel which was the best place for him at the time as I trusted the ACO's there and they knew me.

Again, I am sorry to have offended you. If you have not been able to track an owner by now, I would doubt anyone will come knocking. It itruely is amazing the awesome dogs that owners never come looking for.

Ok K-9 Mom,

Thank you. :-)

Peace and Love on my end back to you.....in this crazy world there's no reason for grudges.  I know where you are coming from and I know we are on the same page now.
