I was at a seminar with my dog and the guy giving it (wish I could remember who he was ) said "don't you ever let anyone intimidate you into thinking your dog isn't any good" . We were talking bloodlines.

learn  to walk a straight line before you track your dog!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mi GSD said:  "Getting up at 4 am to track will not kill you."  LOLOLOL...God, isn't that the truth--- even though it might feel like we'll die at the time.  Ugh!  I like tracking though...so peaceful.  Veronica

I do not compete in Schutzhund but have trained for app. 20 years.

Best advise was to have fun and be excited while training/ watch tone of voice / use motivational methods.

First time I worked with a professional trainer she was impressed with the training my GSD had and said much better trained than most but suggested the above and it has made a huge difference in my training.

The first time I ever got in a suit, the same trainer who jumped my ass, buckled me up, slapped me on the shoulder, and said,

"Don't stick your face or your hands in the dog's mouth".

Don't practice the routine.

Think outside the box.

Have an open mind, there's more than one way to train a dog and every dog is different.

I agree with most of the above (particularly remembering to breathe, and that tracking won't kill you etc :-))

Also, get your patterns down first, THEN add the dog (walk the BH etc without a dog and in a straight line).

Remember that it is YOUR dog and that you are ultimately responsible, don't let anybody intimidate you into doing something you REALLY don't want to do with your dog.

"A toy should not have the liveliness of a dead burrito! Make it a live rabbit!"

And "when the tailgate drops........ "

Stick to a regular system when training,

Do not over do any training session, time wise

Always make the training session fun and reward the Dog after each training with its favorite Ball or whatever it likes
