Absolutely no offense taken, Michelle.
The dog food issue has never gotten me as riled up as, say, a hangnail. I know of one lady that raises, works and shows Rotts. Her and her dogs' food of choice is Purina Dog Chow. Years ago I fed Pedigree to my Amerbred GSD pets. I'm more concerned that they are not deliberately putting something toxic into their foods than I am about them slightly changing their formulas. If it has affected the health of some dogs in a chronic way, then I would consider that toxic. But if I have a day or two with loose stool (the dawgs!) then I'll try a tbsp of acidopholus and if that doesn't do the trick, then we try a food change. Admittedly, that happens rarely.
My efforts at feeding raw consist of buying chicken backs and also letting the dogs find there own. I have a 1.5 acre field that I've dubbed "The Food Pantry". I turn a couple of dogs loose in there. There are "intruder chickens" and a proliferance (is that even a word? I like it though) of rabbits. I leave the dogs in there for one day and rotate them. So they do get RAW, after all.
So, in a nutshell, it's all about how the dogs are doing on a particular kibble. Not about how I think they should do, given what is in the food. Yes, there is some kibble that I wouldn't feed, but by and large, I cannot believe that these multi-national dog food companies would be deliberately exposing themselves to a gazillion lawsuits by changing formulas so that many dogs are going to get sick.
Don't go bashing me because of my views, because that's all they are....MY views. I apologize if I've hijacked the thread in any way. Have a wunnerful day.

I've fed Diamond for years with no problems and yep, it's all going downhill now. My dogs look at it in disgust so I'm looking for an alternative.

I have tried the Blue Buffalo for both my cats and my dogs and they hated it! Maybe I just have picky dogs?

Well I am a little weirded out because this morning another of my rats is going blind in one eye, not both eyes like the first but overnight the eyeball turned white like a catarac. The female that went blind, her eyes slightly changed color but didn't go all white. Too coincedental that 1 rat died and 2 have gone blind in a couple months time. 1 death 1 blind within 2 week period and this same bag of food. I'm sorry I didn't pull them off of it earlier and I probably wouldn't have thought it was the food except the dog refused to eat it. That bitch will eat anything! Must be something pretty bad in the food. Wonder if it's the one batch or the whole line?
