Lets have it, this is big problem for me and i need a solution for it.

First tell me why are you breeding a litter if you don't think you can find suitable homes for them lacally?

firstly I really love dogs and I have had dogs from the time i can remember. I also made it a goal to improve the breeds in the country. As you see, i live in a small developing country and the dogs we have are really not up to mark. I have been active in the show field for over 8 years and have had many champions in different breeds and now do not show anymore mainly because I am the official ring steward since 2007. Thanks to this appointment and my show experience I have had access to many FCI judges who know me personally and have always advised me on how I can improve the breeds.
I am also in the kennel club committee for the last 3 years. I am the youngest from the lot 10 who sits there. Thus I end up doing 80% of the work. Its endless work.
in March 2008 my cousin went out to look for a Labrador puppy, I gave some names of some breeder that I knew but she said the prices were high thus went thru the newspaper classified to see pups. She at the end bought 1, I am not happy with the pup. She commented that most of the kennels were not presentable and distusging and some were in slums.
So we started a Breeder Accredition program. This is available for anybody who wishes to be assessed. So as you see, I got called to visit these so called breeders.
I armed myself with a camera and visited 3 kennels which were within an hours drive from my place.
All 3 were disgusting.
First kennel, very small, had several breedswhich include rotts (1pair), 1great dane adult bitch for sale, a 9 month old lab bitch, a dobermann bitch in heat and a dalmatian with a week old litter. Kennels were small, poor doors - they kept coming off, appauling smell and not in a least good condition to keep dogs.
Second kennel, it smelled so bad that there whole house & kitchen smelled of decaying dog poop. This guy had about 14 dogs of various breeds. He did not show me the kennel but a few of his dogs. He has a golden ret litter, showed me 1 pup that was 6 weeks old, he was the size of a 3 week old pup. The bitch had sore spots and a rash all over, they informed me that she gets a rash everytime she gives birth but if you ask me, its looked like a puppy rash that puppies get when the stay on there own urine, i wonder how the dam got it.
I felt like throwing up the whole time i was there for the smell.
third kennel, was a great dane kennel. The kennels were made of wood. They were so small that it looked similar to a crate. He had 4 great danes. In a small kennel he had 2, 6month old great danes. They had no room to move and was very short. They had a height of a short rottweiler - 22inches @ withers. He also had a litter that was 6 weeks old. They were short too, around 6-8inches.
I also used to breed dalmatians, although we have only 3 shows a year, i have bred the most number of winning Dalmatians so I guess I know the secret of breeding winners (difficult to explain unless I talk to u in person). I breed various dogs because its a hobby and a task.
My last litter of GSD fetched all time record for a country bred litter and that was in April. Although I had a blind puppy because of an animal attack when he was put to the puppy yard to play.
Right now I am concentrating in Rottweilers & German Shepherds which are in my own kennel. I supervise Beagles & Dalmatian in my friends kennels. Some of by brood dogs are show judge selected.
I don't have a problem selling as my dogs are in demand locally and in India. I just dont want them going to bad breeders who will abuse them.
FYI, in every show for the last 7 years one of my dogs have always come in the BEST IN SHOW line up & atleast a group winner. I have personally owned & handled a pug to champion & have won a 2nd Best in Show - all breed.
So in conclusion, the standard of dogs in Sri Lanka is poor, I am doing my best to improve. I dont want bad breeders ab

Sri,
You must be very wealthy and very high up the social ladder to be doing what you say you do in your country with all it's social and economic problem's.
I think if you really care about the animals and are worried about who you sell them to then maybe you should not breed them so much.
I know there is a vast difference in our culture's and we do not use the same value's when it come's to animal's.
You do what you want, we do. But then you deal with it, now and in the after life.
With all the problem's in the world, especially your part of the world, I would think there are more important issue's than weather or not you have a puppy contract.
By the way, I got another one of those scammer calls from your part of the world today.
Now I'm in a mood !
SSDD.

Srilanka, while I admire your goals, I don't envy you when it comes to placing those puppies. Here in the US it is hard enough to find good homes for dogs; I can only imagine what you must go through there. Other than vasectomies and tubal ligations, I have no suggestions how to keep buyers from producing litters using the dogs you have bred. I no longer breed dogs myself because I wasn't able to find good homes for all the puppies and ended up taking about 25% of them back. Now when I want a dog, I buy one. It's a lot easier that way and I only feel responsible for my own dog. Sounds to me like Srilanka might not be the best place to be breeding dogs?

Two Moons, for some reason I like you, you are very straight.
Scammer calls (do mean dumb inquiries) - you get crazy buggers here who call up people around the world asking for puppies. They fail to understand that when you convert the Euro or the USD to SL Rupees its a hell of alot of money here. Plus sending money out of the country is regualted and difficult with the exchange rules. Plus if you consider the shipping cost it comes to more than an average persons year's salary just to land the dog here. Dogs also have a luxury tax which is equal to 1 months average salary per dog. They think that there are cheap if they go direct. You also get get many brokers who sell imported pups. These pups are from pet shops otherwise they cant make it affordable to the sri lankan public.
You need to tolerate these callers, one might come back, we all get these calls, its a part of doing business.
Yes my country has more issues than my contract - there is a war going on. Just as the police officer said when I went to put an entry when my imported black pug pup was stolen from my house last year. By the way, when i went to clear my pup from the air port I asked the doctor casually if he wasnt afraid of diseases coming thru and he said - we already have all the diseases in the country. All this means that dogs and other animals have no place here right now.
Anyways, I want you to understand when S**t happens almost everyday it becomes a part of our daily lives and we tend to ignore it and carry on. Long time a bomb goes people will all rush home and be shocked and talk about it, now they carry on like nothin happened. It becomes a norm.
My world is the dog world, my primary concern is well been of dogs, pure bred and mongrel street dogs. I am not human friendly.
Right now, I am saving and buying the € fluctuates to a low so I can buy a Rottweiler male in the future.
