Birdy

I know that Diamond manufactors the Kirkland. But when I had my dogs on the Diamond Naturals they pooped ALOT.  The Diamond Naturals has more grain in the first ingredience..compared to the Kirkland which is lamb and rice. It has some grain in it but the grain is alot farther down. I know each dog is different. This is just the results that I had when I fed this food.

Here is the Diamond Naturals lamb....

Lamb meal, whole grain brown rice, cracked pearled barley, millet, egg product, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), rice bran, beet pulp, flaxseed, natural flavor, potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin, vitamin D supplement, folic acid

Here is the ingredience for the Kirkland lamb and rice.....

Lamb, lamb meal, whole grain brown rice, white rice, rice bran, egg product, cracked pearled barley, chicken fat( preserved with mixed tocopherols and vitamin E), beet pulp, potatoes, fish meal, flaxseed, natural flavor, millet, brewers dried yeast, potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, carrots, peas, kelp, apples, dried skim milk, cranberry powder, rosemary extract, parsley flake, dried chicory root, glucosamine hydrochloride, taurine, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, chondroitin sulfate, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride(vitamin B6), vitamin B12 suppliment, riboflavin, vitamin D supplement, folic acid

spernagsds, if your dogs are healthy, happy, and shiny on ProPlan, then why change?  High dollar does not always equal high value, and what people on this board never seem to take into consideration is that individual dogs are different.  Some dogs may not do well on certain foods while others may thrive on the exact same food.

We'll have people rave about how great is Solid Gold [or whatever brand is under discussion] and then other people will say "my dog did terrible on it therefore it's a terrible food, don't buy it" and people say, oh, ok, then I won't buy it because it's a terrible food.  Meanwhile thousands of dogs are on the same food and never looked better.

Makes me so furious that in the states you can buy orijen for $47 a bag, while in Canada where its manufactured it costs nearly $20 more.

Something is seriously messed up with that

Had to rant

We fed Canidae for a couple of years. Then I rec'd notice from friend that Canidae was switching their production over to Diamond. Even though Canidae swore up and down that the formula was still going to be the same, I refuse to feed anything made by them and have switched to Evanger's. I've been reading (on a pet retailer's list) that there have been many complaints and returns of the Canidae since the switch.

We also fed Eagle Pack Holistic but had trouble getting it which is when we switched to Canidae, my friend feeds her GSD the Holistic and her dog does very well on it.

diamond continues to give problems to half of the people that use it...something wrong there. They have put something in their food that does not agree with the intestional process in our gsd. Everyone who has a problem is the same problem  ,runny poop and smushy stinky poop and dry coats...I use to use it and they changed their product considerably from what it us to be.

If you read the testimonies on all gsd threads and do research , you can see there is something about Diamond that is not good.

No two dogs are the same , but I never have every had soft stools so Its not my dogs, it was the diamond dog food.  You may not see the results of Purina products at first either, but no product with all grains is good for end result on a shepherd.

I feed my lab wellness, switched about 6 months ago when I encountered a GSD breeder (in my quest for a GSD) He highly recommended it (no he doesn't sell it)  and my dog is doing great on it, coat is healthy, dog is active and no more ear problems......
