Make sure to have some bandage material handy, it might bleed.
Does Xandor even have any lady parts? I have to admit I skipped over the lady parts/canker thread. Maybe I'll read it later....maybe not.

LOL no Xandor doesn't have any lady parts. He's all pain in the ass stud dog. If you ask his previous owner, he'll tell you that I have kind of "sissified" him though.

Bree did that to a back nail last week coming through the slider door! Bled a little while and stopped. She is just fine. Didn't even cut it off. It will heal. Your dog will be just fine. Like they said, your vet would see $$$$ walking in the door.

If you are a chicken shit with your dog.He knows it.If you have to muzzle to cut his nails thats not good.He has you!! If there is no swelling at the top of the nail and he isn't biting in that area and there is no redness and he isn't limping..Don't worry about trimming. What you need to do is a rollover with him to establish that you are Alpha in the pack.

When I rub his belly he rolls over. Does that count?

My old dog Trick(RIP) did the same thing jumping in the back of the pickup. It was his middle toe, so he forever flipped me off till the day he died. I never cut his back, I poured peroxide on it and left him alone. He wasn't about me screwing around with it and it stopped hurting as it grew in. It's the same as us pulling a nail backwards, you just don't want to bump it much until it heals. You could trim it some to avoid further dragging and snagging but it doesn't sound like he is down with that.

Uh, not sure that an Alpha roll is always a great idea for a tough male GSD. Last person I knew who did that ended up in surgery; the dog removed about 1/4 of her face. I think I'd rather muzzle him myself

I alpha rolled my Rat Terrier pup earlier today. Little bugger can get nasty when things don't go his way. Xandor I hogtied and muzzled.

Alpha rolling a rat terrier sounds more like something I might try to do
