yellowrose of Texas: Louise:  Can you read and post the ingredients in Happy Jack Pad Kote if you have a bottle there??????

Of course....---cod liver oil, cade oil, balsam peru, tannic acid, turpentine, gentian violet, brilliant green, isopropyl alcohol (50%)--just a combination of very old remedies--in existence long before antibiotics. The back label reads: "Pad Kote is also a fine for healing aid for moist, weeping, spots due to minor skin eczemas, gall, saddle sores, and other minor abrasions of the skin"--also "relieves itching".

I first learned of Pad Kote from a herding friend whose husband (in the foreign service) was stationed in Africa. My friend developed some type of "creeping crude" on her own skin that was not responsive to conventional treatments. So, she sent off for some Pad Kote which successfully healed the lesions. Years later, my friend uses it when she has an outbreak of shingles.

Just like the bag balm , Louise ,that I use for everything    ..also I was thinking about the ole   Icthenol" , the black salve you put on boils or infections to draw out the infection...I keep a tube of it also here for use on wounds or skin eruptions...I used bag balm on my dog bites when I had to seperate Dieter and Austin one day , and I got the raw end of the deal....

Gentian violet was used by our grandmothers and turpentine she use to rub with alcohol on her legs at night....stinky but no more than Vicks or Mentholadium...

I also use the tube of EMT   that is a wound care that Abhay told us about last year and it is a Natural Hydrolysate of Collagen which is far less invasive..to our system with less side effects.

Its very common for sweat to build up in the skin folds which can develop into other things.  When mine get it sometimes I thoroughly cleanse all around the area with hibiscrub or similar , make sure all the greasy sweat is cleared from in the folds then dab dry with tissue or kitchen roll , when its dry I put loads of sudocrem well into the folds and around, its a good soother and barrier cream , but it must be well cleaned first.

Good Luck !.

Yes, I've used Ichthammol for years--especially for hard to heal lesions (as in acral lick granulomas) on the legs that must remain bandaged while healing. Learned about it from my old vet ~40 years ago.

I, too, have EMT gel on hand--I much prefer it in the spray form to squeezing it out of a tube.

Granulex-V is great for creating granulation tissue.

Have you tried Schreiner's Solution? Also, great stuff--often used in combination with any of the above.

Well, you sure as hell won't hear of any of these remedies from veterinarians. Why not? Because they're cheap and they work!!

I have one vet who knows all these remedies and he tells me about a lot of them....he is really a great man. and  he could care less that he doesnt get a lot of money out of me...he knows I will do what he tells me and he is always but a phone call away and will tell me what to use and how...

Cant beat those kind of vets , Yes,,most vets wont give you any remedy that doesnt come from their prescription book.
