Awe sorry to hear that Wufpack. 2 of my girls have slight dysplasia. I never planned on breeding either of them, they were spayed at 4 and 5 months old. We are hoping Chaos's xrays come back good. I'll be getting him done on the 11th of June I believe. I'll let ya know either way.

I pay about $75 per xray. My vet is awesome with ridiculously fair prices. He is also very good at correct positioning.

$350 with sedation, Virginia.

$300 PennHIP, Morgantown, West Virginia
$200 OFA, Parkersburg, West Virginia
Clearly there is no consistency in pricing by region. I'm envious of those who can get Xrays done right and done cheap. LOL.

Hi Steve, Just read your post, sorry it took so long to get back to you. Actually it is quite common both in the USA and in Germany to have xrays done without anesthesia, and has been for many years, and there are quite a lot of vets who are not only good at it, they are great at it. In fact I prefer to have my dogs xrayed by a vet who doesn't administer anesthesia or sedatives for xrays. Both OFA and SV are fine with it, so I guess if it's OK by them, it's OK by me.
Forgot to add, my dog isn't exactly a lap dog, Steve. It takes a muzzle, a vet and 4 strong assistants, but they can do it very quickly and handle any dog, as this is what they are trained to do.

Here in Canada at the clinic where I work we do OFA X-Ray every week and 85% of time we do not need anesthesia. The dogs usually cooperate very well and the position is perfect.
Only when a dog is very stress or want to bite that we sedate them. And sometimes we ask the owner to be there and hold the head in position so the dog is more relax. The owners loves it. For the cost it is about 120$$ for hip and elbows.

I paid $233 for Pennhips and $233 for my hips and elbow xrays
Both are under sedation, done by my Pennhip vet, and produce 3 xrays...which is why they cost the same here I suppose.
