The documents were signed by the animal control officer; not the senator. I am NOT saying the guy is not an absoute scumbag and I see the address on the intake form is the address listed for the senator.
He is also a black elected official in the rural south. If you have lived in the rural south [I have lived in the southeastern US all of my life] you can understand there *may* be other dynamics at work; the officer at least a K Donald Fling of Marion County was listed as a defendant in a civil rights case, which I don't know how to access.

Once again, not saying the man is innocent, just I don't see enough there to convince me.

I dont think we need to take anything to OPRAH she has turned out to be a little off the wall on her beliefs and what she is doing to promote certain unAmerican oportunities and backing some real unsettling beliefs on people that are gullable ..and poor and need her money.......
Especially promoting to the intcched point African promotions that will come back to bite us on the butt....

"African promotions that will come back to bite us on the butt...."
They already do bite us in the butt ... I never in my life seen caucasian or redskin promotions for anything, now that I think about it.
As far as the Senator, well, regardless of color, race, where yo from, who you are ... there are programs for FREE spay and nueter througout this country, there is no excuse for dumping a prego dog at a kill shelter due to lack of responsibility or a prego bitch that now doesn't fit into his lifestyle. I'd be willing to bet a backyard breeder or puppy mill bill came across his desk and he panicked because of his lack of responsibility for an animal at home. Ya know, practice what you preach.
Either way, if I would have done this or anyone else for that matter, you people on these internet forums would have my head on a public choppin' block without doubt. What's the difference ?
He just contributed to the problem, that should be enough evidence for all dog lovers to send a letter of opposition for his un-righteous acts.

I just heard that this may be an untrue rumor.

Ohhh gezzzz.

At least he didn't let her die in the back yard, or take her out back and shoot her. Hopefully her poor life will take a turn for the better now. Is anyone rescuing her from the shelter? Do the pups look like GSD's? Always easier to place pups that aren't "too" mixed. I know that's unlikely, but one could hope.

True or not I see no reason to bash the guy.

Apparently the senator says he gave the dog to the shelter for her own safety and he would reclaim her if no one else would. What a flaming asshole! The senator has an unspayed bitch, lets her get pregnant, dumps her at the shelter "for her own safety". Glad to see he takes full advatage of services offered by the city.

The article the link above accesses pretty much tells the story.
OFF WITH HIS HEAD.
by Blitzen on 04 April 2008 - 18:04
Off with his head indeed. It looks like he didn't want the responsibility of whelping the litter. Note he hasn't said how she got pg in the first place. It's just a dog after all............
