I've already picked out the one I'm getting as soon as I take out a second mortgage on my house. I could probably get 2 if they will accept a 2001 Toyota Corolla and a 1986 Jeep. I'm still waiting for their reply.

I just want my family to be extra safe. If I get these dogs, they will be! Except, of course, if the guy has a gun, hatchet, mace, or gets in a lucky shot. Also, if they get kidnapped or hurt while driving, at work, in the mall parking lot, at a club, by a friend or neighbor. But, as long as we're at home, and the guy comes in the door - unarmed - I'm sure we'll be safe!

"The German Shepherd is also more expensive to import and train, that’s why many facilities use the Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, Rottweiler and other similar breeds, because they cannot afford to import quality , pink-papered, Schutzhund titled German Shepherds and figure you as a regular non-dog trainer will not know you are getting considerably less than the best for your family."

At the military base where I work and live they use Mals because of their compact size and insane drive. Now tell me the US government doesn't have the money to get a GSD if they wanted to.

"Harrison K-9 is one of the few trusted importers of Schutzhund-titled progeny."

The misleading part of the above statements is that the uneducated buyer will assume a Sch dog is the same as a personal protection dog. A lot of people outside the dog world don't seem to understand the difference.

In my opinion pink-papers are frequently misrepresented as bragging rights for newbies who don't understand that pink-papers only mean the dog was born in Germany. I've often had customers calling for a "pink-papered puppy" without realizing that the quality they get is not necessarily better than what they could get here in the states. They don't care about bloodlines or  working history, they just want a "pink-papered puppy."

There seems to be a myth that the "imported" GSD is superior because it's "from Germany!"... but I rarely hear of people who want an imported Siberian Husky from Siberia.

Its all marketing. If I could afford an ad in the Robb Report I would do it in a heartbeat. For the cost of a full page, color ad once a month for a year, I could probably buy an estate, and so could sell "estate dogs" yes?
