Well at least it seems it'll melt soon for you Shelly.  Holy Crap a foot of snow for you guys in November!  That really sucks, it was sort of a wet mix here this A.M. but no accumulation.  Just enough to turn the Jersey drivers into more of an idiot than they already are!

the dogs look to be having a great time! i'd love to get angus and claire in the snow! of course, in so cal, it means a trip to the local mountains at the right time. but then everyone else is trying to get there too! seems like so cal is just one big traffic jam all the time....

i wouldn't want as much snow as PA has, but i'd love to move where there is some snow! i really shoulda been born some where else than so cal...i love (the few) trees changing from green to yellow/orange/red. i love it when they're all bare til spring. i love the colder weather (ok, NOT PA!) sweaters, jeans and cowboy boots, a fire in the fireplace, snuggling with the dogs, a bit of brandy in the evenings...... maybe when my husband FINALLY retires! geez, he's 71! you'd think he'd get tired of working by now!

poor shelley, at least your dogs can have some fun......

Good news. its stopped snowing. Now we have sleet.

Notice the huge tree bough coming down on one of the temp day-runs, now unuseable. It came from an 80' pine tree about 25' behind the kitchen, dead as hell, listing to starboard as I type this with one eye on it in case it decides to come down... like I could get out of the way in time or something...

The kennel building is looking good for moving in any time now too. Sure glad I married a commercial construction manager instead of a dentist or something who would have hired a contractor instead of doing it all himself. All this progress in only 12 short months? I am SO impressed... Grrrrr.

Any bets on a 6" slab of concrete being poured this week? No, make that 6" on one end, 15" on the other, where the grade is so far off the stone doesn't even reach the bottom of the 2x6 forms. Forget spreading it with that tractor someone left here a few weeks back. It doesn't run.

Now Shelley, I know this amount of snow is not at all funny and that I really should be taking this all very serious but your entries are so hillarious you just have me in stitches everytime I read your next post !!  Great to see all this cold white stuff hasnt hampered your sense of humour  ,,, I spluttered at your comment  -"quote" ;- "Good news. its stopped snowing. Now we have sleet."    By the time I read quote " Sure glad I married a commercial construction manager instead of a dentist or something"  I had almost choked !!   This is me crying cos my stomach ached from laughing so much, keep them coming we might all get through the winter with a smile on our faces !!

Oh Mellissa, bless his little cotton socks , how sweet is that.

I'm happy to know my humor, waxing particularly sarcastic these days, brings a giggle to people once in awhile. I have been out digging drainage ditches trying to lower the water levels in my temp kennel runs today. Hubby came home at noon. Oh Goody, thought I unrealiztically. Guess he got weary of watching me struggle with pick and shovel to little avail. Didn;t take him long to come up with today's ridiculous excuse for going off to drink beer with his friends till...? Well, its been dark for 2 hrs., so he's safe now... BUT...

Where's my pitchfork?

Hey Shelly,

I saw Jed's video on your website, looks like he was having a blast!   Any of it melt today?

Oh yeah, its melting alright... FAST! Result: a LOT of water and mud, eroding by the truckload down the hill, impeded only by the house... I spent yesterday digging drainage ditches with pick and shovel to try to drain the temp runs just bhind the house.

I just took a little walk round with Carol. Hubby insists he's going to pur concrete for the kennel building this week end.

I don't think so.

How do you spell l-e-v-e-l?

No, there is no formal "drain" in his "plans." Then again, I have yet to see any "plans." George doesn't NEED any stinking plans. He's SO good he can keep the whole thing right in his head!

I'm not a site preapration professional, BUT...?

I'm thinking he did things a little differently when he managed this project a couple of years ago.

I guess he left the "How to Build an Award Winning Structure" manual in his locker in the construction trailer.

Sigh....
