I was told by a holistic vet to give at least 1000mg a day vit c, in ascorbic acid form. All of my non made for dog supplements are from the health food store and are all natural. I look at the ingredients before I buy. No yeast, sugar, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

Thanks for the link Yellow, I'll take a look at that. I will also check out the Nupro.

ASCORBIC ACID IS NOT A NATURAL FORM OF VIT C,

A LITTLE ABOUT ESTER C AND WHY USE IT INSTEAD OF ASCORBIC    '

THERE IS ANOTHER LINK THAT EXPLAINS IT BETTER BUT I CANT FIND IT RIGHT NOW...

AMWAY VITAMIN CORP    TAUGHT US THAT JUST BECAUSE THE WORD NATURAL IS USED DOESNT MEAN IT IS GOOD FOR INGESTION TO THE BODY...

YOUR BATHTUB IS MADE OUT OF A NATURAL INGREDIENT

YOU  WOULDNT EAT IT..

STEERING WHEELS ON SOME CARS ARE MADE OUT OF IVORY  A NATURAL INGREDIENT...WOULDNT EAT IT...

COOL WHIP IS MADE FROM PETROLEUM         SHOULD WE EAT IT...

Hi 4pack,have you looked at the possibility of Sarcoptic mange? It is very difficult to detect even under a microscope so it is suggested to just treat for it so it is eliminated (I would first try stopping ALL that stuff)Just looking at the LONG LIST of stuff you give this dog,it would not be surprizing that it is  one of these supplements that you are giving that is causing the problem. Why is it that you feel you must give all these supplements, and are you aware that when you add essential fatty acids(omega 6 and 3)you must also add vitamin E so that the efa's dont get rancid in the dogs system. You may want to ELIMINATE all these supp's for a while and let him clear up,then add something simple as fish oil tablets but NOT much or you may throw off the ratio of the food oils. Also you are giving Cosequin so why bother giving additional supp's for joints if you are giving one of the best out there and very expensive.I know that in todays world we are bombarded with BS so that someone could make money selling these things but there is NOTHING better than giving your dogs some small amounts of a variety of real foods to make his coat shine and have a healthy dog.I dont understand the dog food companies adding all these things in the diet without knowing how it will affect the dog long term.I beleive it is put on the label for US not the dogs.Hope this helps and PLEASE do NOT take this offensive as it was not meant that way.

I don't believe it is Sarcoptic mange or anything else highly contagious. My other dog is fine. I am nixing the supplements for now, though I don't beleive. As I said before, the skin was having issues before I added most of those suppliments.

No worries, I wont take offense. I'm her to gather opinions and answers and hopefully something will  in my head.
