I can't agree with Dawn's "grass in greener in Germany" bit.

I've been to plenty of German GSD shows hosted in America, and heard people muttering insults about another's dog, while playing the "sweet and polite" card to the owner's face.  Or muttering about the incompetance of the judge when there former V1 dog places low at the next conformation trial.

And while I'd like to say it's different in Germany... it's not. Nor is it better in Canada, as the hoopla over last year's Canadian Sieger show proved. Some viewed Canada as the last "safe haven" from the political scheming. They were sadly surprised, I fear. There is no dogshow Utopia; there are only people wishing there was.

Politcs and trash-talking is part of the dogworld; unfortunate, but true. And as GSDShowman said, you don't last very long in this if you don't have a thick skin.

I think if you stopped breeding inferior animals that the trait would for the most part go away.

And when the trait shows its ugly little head again generations down the line as we agree it will, again you dont reproduce the animal.

By not breeding,  the gene you dont want might still be hiding in the ancestry but you dont have to give it life.

"Articial Selection" is the technical term. Coined by Charles Darwin.

There is always the risk in breeding that you will promote a hidden trait that could be disasterous. Lethal gene combinations (Dominant White), dormant traits, there's a lot of factors. That's why any breeding is always a risk. But a careful breeder takes steps to minimize it.

I mentioned the truth about the PARENT CLUB,  and how they treat people. You mentioned Fred Lanting.That was BIG NEWS on how the PARENT CLUB treats people if you do not PLAY THEIR PUPPY GAMES!

I really do not care what you think.  People like you have ruined the American Shepherd by breeding so close to God knows what relative, and call it BEAUTIFUL!! You have taken  the  German out of these dogs and have created FREAKS! They are POOR DOGS that had no choice.

I recall that the dog was KIMBO Bisschofschiem that Mr. Lanting put up against the American Dog at the National. So.... is that a lie also? AND how did the PARENT CLUB TREAT the POOR GUY? THEY CRUCIFIED HIM!!! IS THAT A LIE? NICE PEOPLE!! There is nothing to hide! Old news that the PARENT CLUB WANTS forgotten! WHY? Because they want new people.

Is that what you use in your GENE POOL for your dogs to look the way they do?  What do you have to brag about? No one knows all there is to know about the German Shepherd. If they did, they would have the PERFECT DOG,  that could work and show, and there is no perfect dog.

I am training my dog on my own, and I am not sending him away to be trained.

The man who had the knowledge of how to breed the correct dog, has passed away. You would not know who he is because he was from Sweden, and  had every  Koering Book ever printed, and studied  the breed all his life, and knew the lines like none else ever has.

You come on here talking smack about American dogs but you join all the American show list. You are a know it all know nothing. You have no idea about breeding. You need to get a grip on your life.

Invite the International Dog World on to join your  little dog group, to show the German Shepherd Dog World how little  the American Shepherd people know about breeding,  AND what  their comments and true feelings are about the German Shepherd. (Working and Show Lines.)  So I have been banned. BOO-HOO!!   About breeding....Like you, I know nothing,  about breeding.  This is for certain, I WOULD NOT bring poor animals into the world looking  and acting like  CHICKEN SHEPHERDS!

I am SO GLAD you have decided to come to a REAL GERMAN SHEPHERD web-site to learn about breeding a TRUE GERMAN SHEPHERD.  In fact, CLICK on to STANDARD and study what the German Shepherd should look like. NOT WHAT the GSDCA Standard writes. (What a farce!)
