Jantie,
obviously, we will never agree on that subject! You accuse me of only reporting half truths. If that is what you think, so be it! You will only believe what you want to believe anyway. In addition, you justify your actions that we don't know what we are talking about and that we have not seen your dog suffer. Whatever! I am not wasting my time reading your "random comments". You only publish what fits into your scheme anyway. As to Helmut: I absolutely refuse to "talk bad" about anybody here on a public forum. The only thing I have to say is that he and the administrator of a certain board (not boards, you exaggerate)have a long standing personal animosity going on. You invited him to meet you and discuss the issue with you? At least, he turned you down. When I invited you to meet with me at the BSZS, you did not even grace me with an answer. The famous glasshouse comes to mind: When you sit in one, don't throw with stones!
I personally think that you are one of these people who like to criticize but can not stand to receive it! That is why you continously attack my person and my integrity! First you accuse me of breeding unhealthy dogs (see above) and now you insinuate that I believe that "the GSD is as healthy as ever and that CHD exists only in your dreams". I know that I should not take this too personal because this is your M:O: People who do not fall in line with you get ridiculed that way! I have been following your comments on several boards, after all.
No, I do not believe that you are a liar. I think that you are a person with a hurt ego and a perfectionist with a very high IQ. You had envisioned your perfect dog for a long time. You read and investigate a lot and after a long time of research, you went out and bought that seemingly perfect puppy. You even took an expert with you to assist you in your pick. According to your calculations, there should have not been anything in the way of that great future star who would have excelled in the ring and on the field. Never mind all these idiots that spent thousands of Dollars or Euros on older dogs to achieve that goal, when you had the perfect solution and would show them all. What a cruel blow you must have been dealt when mother nature played that terrible "joke" on you. Since you can't go after her, the breeder had to play the scapegoat. This man has done so much for our breed single handedly with his dogs, that I view your accusations as a joke. It must really drive you crazy that he never even bothered to answer you! Jantie, please let it go!

Thank you Chris for your final? conclusions. So we agree to disagree. Fine with me. May I correct and reveal my IQ is way too low, my ego is NOT hurt, as I have absolutely no interests whatsoever in the GSD, I’m just a “consumer”, and… “I’m convinced, I seek no convincing!”( as said Edgar Allan Poe). And nobody ever judged me to be a perfectionist before either (and I had quite a lot of assessments in my life), basics is fine with me. The picture you’re hanging up from me (or trying to), is far from the real me. I have dealt with many un-perfect things in my life, and have coped with that very well. So you may try again, I’ll tell you when you get warmer. I daresay it might all have more to do with Voltaire who said: “It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong” and my desire to coach people into a direction which is good and beneficial for everybody.
Now the individual breeder is of no interest to me whatsoever. All my studies focus on the breed and its health, the rules and regulations and the organization. I have not insulted anyone on the discussion boards (where my complaints about the breed btw were always confirmed, even reinforced), you know very well, with the tension that had risen there, one would immediately have flunked me. You know I would not have lasted very long with the stringent rules of those German forums. So I have been very careful NOT to attack anyone personally (and succeeded – even when some ladies tried to get me thrown off, after for instance saying: “Helloo!” by yelling: “I’m insulted, I’m insulted, throw him off!!” Evil grin.), and even ignored massive attacks on my own personality, rest assured I had to receive more than my fair share. (Of course I will not hold back my horses when people refer to me as an as*ho** in public guest books. Who do you think I am, the pope? I’m human alright!)
It's a question to me why you are now trying to unravel MY personality in your conclusions, it has nothing to do with the facts or with the problems that I have addressed in my studies. I have never accused you (here: singular) personally, please DO correct. When I have used the word: “you” it was always in plural. So YOU = people minimizing the magnitude of CHD, denying the seriousness of the disease, YOU = these people, are ruining the breed, etc.
I do not recall an invitation to meet you. I’m sorry. I might have missed it, then I do appologise, I received different messages making proposals to (finally) meet at the show (but it was a terrible summer with both of my parents having serious surgery, I could not go). Wh

When I go to shows and trials, I go incognito. Should you wish to visit when passing through Belgium, you’re always welcome. Mi casa es su casa. Take care now !
Jan
It’s NOT a waste of time reading the collected random comments of many dog fans. On the contrary, they prove there is more to it than meets the eye. And that not all people condemn me.

Thank you Jantie, for the invitation! If I ever come to Belgium, I might just stop to say Hi!
All the best to you!

You're most welcome. Despite of our many differences when it comes to the GSD, I'm convinced that we have quite a number of mutual interests. Should you decide to come this way, I will show you the prettiest town in the world, Bruges. That's a promess.
Take care of yourself, your family and your dogs.

I dont mean to butt in on this private dispute, however, from those films and the A-photos, those hips donot look overly debilitating. My GSD lived a long healthy life, almost 15. 9 years after he was dx with CHD. We had to stop competing, and used non impact exercise, meds etc. Pain control was our main goal and we were able to accomplish that until about the last two days we had to make that decision. His xrays looked much worse than those in the link, while the gaps are there really did not see much arthritic scaring, was this dog not able to motivate? What was his symptoms?
