the dog that won that Nationals (same handler) left the blind, avoided the long grip and had no full grips.  Interesting, hmmmmmm?

Well if Karlo was able to get a 95 for protection with all those problems, what must Eagle have done to get a 90?  Very interesting, hmmmmm?

Wow.  I didn't know the roughest part of this sport was in the back alleys after the dogs compete.

Although this fight seems to be between a mix of real competitors on the one hand and fans on the other.  That's weird.  Like Barry Bonds having to argue with a guy in the bar about his homers. Apart from Eichenluft, who here actually competed?  I'm unclear.

If you guys want to discuss who has the strongest dog go to

~~~ > Definition of “very strong dog”  <~~~~
The thread creator wanted to have people ask opinions regarding to Fabian, lets stick with the subject here.
Fabian is entered in veterans class at NASS. Maybe his performances and scores there will help you make a decision, gsdlvr2? I assume veterans have to do bite work? I think there are a fair number of people attending NASS this year who frequent this board, so you may be hearing some opinions on Fabian's performance after the show is over or  you  might want to PM a few who saw him and ask how they thought he did.
grshep9, if you think points in protection reflect how strong a dog is in protection, then you don't have a clue about this breed or the Schutzhund sport.  Not a clue.  You must be a show-dog person who doesn't train or compete your own dog, and who doesn't care about learning about the true temperament of a dog before breeding to it.   Breed to a point dog, breed to a dog who you think is strong and "nerves of steel" because of points in trial - go for it.
another example of the lack of class that USA allows its officers to show.  Sportsmanship?  What a foreign concept!  At least Fabian engaged on the escape bite instead of gaily runnign along side the helper at the Nationals!
LOL LOL  You people who idolize the jealous, petty and small minded never cease to amaze me.  Fabian was a true VA dog.  He DESERVED the Universal Sieger title.  He went for it ONE time and got it.  ONE TIME.  Not a lifelong quest, not always a bridesmaid.
Yes, I knew he is entered in the veteran's class at the NASS. Unfortueately I am not able to attend. I hope I will hear some more comments after that. So, far though, he seems to be an over all nice dog. I will getting some DVD's of him working sometime soon.
I happen to have to full DVD set from the 2005 National. Fabian passed, and that was about it. This is only one trial, however shallow grips and weak guarding are what you see in the video, maybe he can do better. But I would have to see it to believe it.   The obedience is slow, and the dog is distracted most of the time as if he would prefer to be elsewhere. The dog passed and he had enough points to be awarded the US.  I think that is one thing everyone can agree on.
As far as t goes, he does get away with quite a bit of handler help, and his dog spins in the blind during the guard. Not every point is lost for being weak, anyone with a little experience and an IQ above room temperature would know that.
And for drew or lee or whoever/whatever you are, offer up the name of one of your dogs and some scores from a regional or national event before you bash others.
He really is an "all over nice dog"........he & his owners did what they set out to do.
He lives in the home as their house dog and part of their family. He comes to training every Saturday and gives a (sound) performance.....
Best of luck to him and his progeny.
