this dog reminds me of the first GSD i was ever around....when i was 9 we moved to ohio for a year, my aunt there had a big beautiful GSD, i fell in love with that dog, i was constantly begging to walk her, but she was to big for me : (   ---i remember the 'grown-ups' talking about why they got her....they went to wherever, i think to buy a puppy, and they saw her laying on the ground with five children crawling all over her (my aunt also had two young kids, babies) she didnt mind the kids at all, she just layed there thumping her tail....then one of the toddlers grabbed the dogs ear and twisted it, my aunt thought for sure the dog would be pissed, but all she was shake her head and kept thump her tail...she said right then, I WANT THAT DOG....lol, she said they spent more on her than they had planned to spend on a dog, but she got the dog she wanted......so yea, i agree, this dog reminds me of the 'old fashioned' farm dog....i wish i could remember that dogs name, ill have to get in touch with my aunt and find out....ahh, memeories, don't you love em....

Hello

I just love Carmail, she looks happy and well taken care of.

The only thing that matters is that you love your dog and the dog love you back.

My Kati () also has an "uninspiring pedigree" to some people  -

Do I plan to breed her -HECK NO,

Am I planning on doing Confirmantion - HECK NO

Do I care if people think she has an "Uninspiring Pedigree" - HELL NO

Here is the queen of my heart - a picture is worth a thousand words

I am not entirely sure how someone can say.... she looks like a good pet.  What is a good pet? Can you tell a good pet from a picture?  Can you tell by looking at a dog if he has served at ground 0 after 9/11 as a search dog?  Can you tell by the picture if he is a working service dog who works every day (which frankly is more than most sch trained dogs do)?  Stating that a dog wont be able to do much is a gross generalization.  You cannot know that until you know the dog.  The best advice I believe is the advice that EkvonEarnardt gave, read it again, I think he (or she) said it best.

Thanks Von Symphoni. I too have a old American line German Shepherd. She is one of a kind. I would not trade her for the world. She is CGC, TDI, RN, CH and CD titled. What that does not show is that she has Agiltiy, water rescue, narcotics, personal protection. And When I say personal protection I mean she will bite for real! And yes I did breed her!!! her puppies had extreme ball and hunt drive, tons of prey, and defense. In fact two of her last litter went to the police department!!!

So yes, I have too been there when  people look down their noses and say " oh American "  AGAIN show me the dog !!!!!

Actually a few years back I went toe to toe with a service dog with her . As the decoyer actually hit her repeatly she never came off the sleeve. When it came time for the service dog the second hit - he was off and out of the sleeve. The dog was from top Czech lines !!!!!! Yes he was trained better but pound for pound I rather have her backing me at night.

Shepherd 11112  love your dog, have fun with her and to hell with all those who look down thier noses.

Thanks guys She is my baby.

As for your question Mine has a pedigree of all black and tan dogs but that does not mean siblings were not sable. It could mean that there is sable or a bi black just really hard to say.

Well, I hope you see that not all "AMERICAN" lines are just so call pets. Some actually can work. So  Shepherd11112 (and others)  never let others tell you "you can''t" but be real about your dog, No, they will never be NATIONAL or top VA dogs  but they can be more then "PET ONLY"
