If I were coming to buy a pup from a breeder and the dogs stunk to high hell, pen was even remotely dirty and the conditions were not what I would consider appropriate then how could I feel comfortable purchasing from that person??  I know someone who went to look at a nice litter, they were so excited and certain they'd be coming home with a puppy BUT when they got close to the pups they literally smelled like crap.  Needless to say they were disappointed and felt they wasted their time.

My 6 month old pup is classic for finding dirt, mud, a burn pile; anything he can get himself filthy dirty in but I just wait til he dries off a bit and give him a good brushing and he looks good as new.  Both my dogs live in my house with me most of the time and I don't do dirt or odors lol  the minute I can smell "dog" they're getting a bath.  I use pet silk clean scent and it tends to last a good while.  It pretty mild too.

Jade   Jade: I guess  you think people are stupid     Yes they are on wire  for several hours a day , when Im not with them and at nigth so the hawks , possums, eagles, and skumkns ,bobcats and bears dont get them   during 108* weather in the mid day to 4:00 there abouts,   they are in their wire cages built especially to my specs for gsds, not rabbits,    and with tools to learn to tug and kongs to play with..... During the morning hours the dogs come out the cage door , to outside faster than I do......

Btw Jade:  Your not talking to a back yard breeder here, not a novice nor a dummy nor someone without an excellent reputation and I demand respect or have nothing to say to you...I breed pups that are nevere sick, nor the parents or the gr parents ...My vets call me to see if Im still alive ....they know what I breed....so dont go typing large letters of insults at me....I know what Im doing....do you   You can raise your dogs ;in the dirt all day long if you care to,,,,,

My dogs play in the dirt ;, waller in the water buckets, get in the burn piles  which I already stated in another ,thread,,,,,collect pine branches , pine cones....drag logs from the log pile, and learn to jump over and go under logs from trees on my place...but when the day is done ,,,and the smoke smelling dog is ready to come in and he stinks like smoke and I have a customer coming to look at them   He is gonna get a bath .....if it 4 times in a week or 4 times in three days....Ive had a litter roll on someones poop     Do you stand over yours all day long....do they poop/    Yes, I hope so,, and they sometimes roll in it,  eat it and no telling what else   even poop in the water container if its low enough   and Im gonna bathe them    they pee and walk in it, and then the all get in a free for alll ,,,right in the pee peee     You think Im bringing in to my lovely smelling house a pee pee dog...puppy???no thank you    and Ive been doing this longer than almost anyone on this board...
I dont baby any shepherd on this place....they are like panthers,,,they hang on my legs , my shoes and they get sticks , logs and go for all kinds of new adventures before they go home.......I do not want my pups with flies all over the food or them ...in TEXAS  , the hot days bring flies to anything that breathes ,,,and I will not have dogs that sit and are raised sitting on pine shaving day in and day out, ......food falls on ground and ants come faster than you can say   Jack sprat.......you can sevin dust and odo ban all day long ...so when the play time is over they go back to their    kennels with wire under themm......kennels built for me  with specs for the gsds.......not rabbits....

My customers buy a pup clean and healthy and I have letters from vets that have been doing the german shepherd and do know the difference in amer and germ   ones....and the bone structure and the health difference .....

You raise yours like you like   my experience I will share for those that want to try my way...It works great and always has......and anyone that thinks Im stupid enought to put them in a wire kennel and leave them there, is prejudging me and reading something into what isnt....that a lot of what is wrong on this database...you try to crucify every one that has a good idea or not one you like.......give it up.....I know what I am doing...and I have a huge amount of experience and people that are behind me and have two , three and four of my gsds....

Puppies cannot take care of themselves in Texas in an outdoor kennel on dirt, when a 45 mile an hour wind and rain comes up in East Texas and the days are long and hot.....I like to go to town and eat and do other things away from my home.and kennel...Indoor a/c with dogs on a floor that has wire for all the poop and pee to go into a tray , and out of the way of the pup standing in and on and wallering on it , is much healthier thatn outside in the insects , rains ,winds, bugs by the dozens and it doesnt matter how many dog houses u put in a pen,, they will sit outside in the rain and get nasty ,wet and cold , hot or any degree you can describe......I have visited and had remarks by hundreds of people as to why they did not buy a pup from people , with dogs in dirt outside , and smell of pee and poop the minute they stepped out of the car.....unless you have employess to stand a guard to rake, put new pine shavings and new  sand in a kennel or rotate the pups to other kennelseach day, as to not contaminate the pups,,it is unhealthy......my pups eat dirt ,rocks and anything they see,,,,,,but then they go inside to a clean environment when I cannot watch them.......

I dont want my pups on concrete at that early of an age.....I dont want the question of hips from anyone that might say ,,you started the pups on concrete and it ruined their joints...I already heard that discussion from german breeders on this board years ago...I bought a pup from a german breeder , that told me unless the dog was on wire or dirt , they would not guarantee the hips , never on concrete....

I imprint the pups every day with tugs, noise , big tools of different sizes to take away the scare factors,   walk them on 5 different kinds of surfaces , and take them into the fields of high grass just to let them find their way and get a fill of what its like in the high grass conditions...I take them to the lake and let them get their selves accustomed to swimming , but usually sell them before much can be done on that fete...

My pups chase water hoses, ride in lawnmower wagon, go to town in pick up in a wire cage with a -plastic bottom and papers under them

They do not get out of truck nor do they get exposed to any of the dreaded 4 diseases   having already only having one shot.....but they ride and in the sun also with no top on cage...if its too hot  we go in the later or earlier part of day......

So dont go shoving untruths about wire cages down other peoples throat until you know the whole picture......sorry to take thread up with all the explanations.,,but I guess if all of us are so dense we have to have lessons one O one on how to breed , raise and train , our gsds because someone has an aversion to another way of doing something ...I guess its needed...I raised working dogs not couch potatoes...also...Tiekerhook and Enclavehof and Flusstal and Busecker Schloss dont lay around in wire cages...my dogs get agitated in the wire to build their intenseness, and I do different games of watch the coin , watch the shiny lids and find the noise whenthey are in their cages also.....Its also a wonderful way to watch each pup individually do things with tugs,; big kongs, bones, and tools individually on their own, in a cage , by themselves or with a littermate.....

People that live in other states may not have the perils of the outdoors and I do this by myself and want cleanliness and protection for each pup....they get more work and fun and love than anyother pup anywhere around that I know of, and my  4 hour a night of sleep, only proves that also....SO you can cut out the stone throwing .....it wont work too well , since you live in a glass house , I assume...
