lmfao...i swear 4-pack, lol>>Poke his freaking eyes out so he can't see and if he lets go, you have a chance to run away
the pulling legs thing was good, if you can get there, but if the dog had ahold of a child you'd just be puling him and the child, if he got a real bite.....does anyone know anyway to release the jaw if they have a bite on someone? my friend broke her fingers one time when her pit/chow mix got ahold of someones dog and she tried to pry its jaws apart.....maybe if someone did get behind the dog, would kicking it in the balls work?

Angela, speaking for self, I'm including "any" dog in such an attack.
4pack - I was thinking something similar, swing that sucker into a tree, or if your strong enough, swing it up and slam its head on the ground like they do fallen pigs in the slaughter house, but then I saw that the dog wasn't going down from point blank range gun shots and I kind of rethought that line of action...

GE, Yea me too but better than just letting go. I'm not going down without a fight. No way you can outrun a dog, you have to stand your ground and be braver than you really are.

angela...in case you didnt notice we posted at the same time.....either way, you can do all the typing in the world and it doesn't change the question, well, let me correct that , it does change the question, one aspect of it , i will also say when 'any' dog attacks...not just pit.....but not my question on pulling their jaws apart...seeing how they have such strong bite, jaw power....
BTW, the ear thing sounds really good to me too.
and i have a ligit reson for worring about a pit attack...i know you dont believe me but i have told you before about how so many stray dogs , mainly pits/or pit mixes, roam around here, and i have a 6 and 7 year old kids that cannot be locked in the house at all times...maybe next time one , two or three of them show up in my yard ill take a picture for ya, but hopefully boss will do his job and they won't come in my yard again...

I hope not iluv, but keep the bear spray handy just in case. You can get it from the REI website. There is a bottle of it on my front porch as well as a nasty little .38 cal. surprise in my ankle holster (I do have a concealed carry permit) for when I walk my dogs. We have a jerk in my neighborhood too that like to let his mutt run free at night. Guess what kind of dog that mutt might be?

Twisting ears, Loud voices, and kicking in the balls will all do nothing but irritate the dog all the more. The first thing you have to do is keep presence of mind in order to retaliate. If the dog has a collar on you can get a deep hold on the collar and twist. You will then be able to force the dog down to the ground, and while pushing down, you will be choking the dog out. Choke the cur until it is dead. This man had the right idea.

The Pitbull in the vid did not have a collar on. This presents a huge problem. The cur in the video was intent on killing a human. It didnt even show an interest in the little black cockapoo. If someone had the dog's back legs as they did in the video in what Leerburg calls the wheelbarrow, if they were strong enough they might be able to swing the dog's head into a tree or pole, or ground repeatadly until it was knocked out. Your only other option would be to find a brick or large heavy object with your free hand and strike the dog on the top of its head. The top of a dog's head is a tender area for extermely hard blunt trauma. Other than that, ProudShepherdPoppa is right on Spot. You better kiss your ass goodbye.

psp, yea , never thought about getting some kind of spray, i do need to get somethin like that....also kids paw-paw lives right next door with his shotgun....he also has a b-b-gun that he keeps with him while he sits in his garden, when a stray dog is poking around, he pops them when they try creeping in the yard....i only wish it was someone letting their mutt run lose, then i could report them....these are stray dogs, we live down a long dirt road right off the highway, all back roads, people use this spot lots to dump dogs.....around here puppies and mothers are dumped alot, sometimes they grow wild, snatching food from your garbage, living under the bridges and close to the river-- and form packs..not just pits, all types...but i've noticed most were pits within the last year....use to be mostly hunting dogs, very dangerous for my kids and my dogs....my couison owns one of the pups we found on the side of the road while riding 4-wheelers, she got the dog spayed as soon as she could and it stays inside her home and she has a large chain link fenced in yard...this one is lucky, it has turned out to be a very sweet dog so far...
