Your pictures are great. Looking at them reminds me of my Bella. She has been diagnosed with EPI and we just had her spayed. She couldn't be shown, but your dog can compete in other classes, Obedience and agility, which my dog loves.... Kathy

Like I said guys, your long coat can be shown in UKC!  It's a fun organization and they do accept the long / plush coated dog!

Quote: "And you also do a Honor Dog in UKC.  You have to down your dog on the spot where the judge tells you to, and leave the ring out of site."

Shepherd Girl: In the first level (for U-CD, "UKC companion dog"), you do not "leave the ring" while your dog is on a down-stay. You just go to the other side of the ring, during the next dog's heeling pattern. The sit-stay is done as a group exercise.

Also, you CAN show your long-coat in UKC conformation, but it's still a fault. There's a lady in our area that has been showing her long-coat for two years and only has one win on him. But then lots of dogs finish UKC with faults that they couldn't get away with in AKC. As UKC becomes more popular and the judges are educated more on the breed standard, this will happen less often.

Still, I like the long-coat GSD and think they make beautiful pets.

Well than she hasn't had a judge that likes him/her then!   Chaos is already a champion and we are going for his grand championship now.  I guess judges around here like them a little more than her judges around there!  Chaos doesn't have the really long hair as some long coats do, but he is still considered a long coat.  And NO the long coat is not just a pet!

Here's my Champ. Trigger was in great form this afternoon with some pretty impressive aerobatics but I wasn't quick enough with the camera to catch any. Got some good shots of his tail, tho :-)  Had a bucket of water sitting next to me so Trigger could dunk his head everytime he brought the ball back. We were both soaked by the end of the afternoon but had a good time.

I do not care if long coat, stock coat or breed for that matter, But I love to see them all enjoying life. Thanks for sharing.

Quote from the UKC breed standard for the German Shepherd Dog:

"Serious faults: Short, mole type coat; long coat that stands away from the body; soft coat; absence of undercoat."

OOwlinn, oh, stuff it. We are having some fun with our dogs..

Have any pups you have sold that sit in the backyard, ended up in a shelter?

Ok, lets put this to bed, for all of you breeders who have produced a long coat or may in the future, Why in the world would you condem the owners for having fun and loving their dogs. If they did not have a following, where in the hell do you think they would end up, so unless you plan on keeping and raising them yourselves or drowning them when born, leave it be, We all understand the rules of the SV, AKC, UKC, so what, who cares!
