Today the Judge and the county commissoners met and she lowered the hammer and said by next week we will have in place , new laws and reinforcement, and she reinterated, inforce laws already in place, but only two animal control officers, for a whole county , trying to run all over every precinct....and that every constables office will , from now on have a animal control person, to enforce animal law...She was hot to trot, and she said it is time to put a stop to unresponsible people letting dogs bite, and maul any officer, or citizen and if a child had been on site yesterday, a very dangerous accident and possible a death could have occured. It is time and I will go to no stop and spend the dollars to see that this court gets those implements into force....
They are talking of a law , that any person whos animal harms a person, will face the possiblity of 20 years in prison and in case of death of a person by a violent animal, life will be the end result and there was one more , I do not recall..Tyler news will have more tomorrow , Im quite sure....

Well guys, I recieved an email from Kenneth Dean, the writer of the article regarding Deputy Jay. Animules had stated he wondered what the other breeds involved in the dog bites were, and this is what he sent back.
"The dogs were not all pit bulls... One was a mastiff and another was a
German shepherd. We have had numerous attacks from pit bulls, but any
dog
can attack. Hope this helps."
I had hoped the German Shepherd would not be mentioned, but once again here is another incident that should be blamed on an irresponsible dog owner.

Get A Real Dog,
good post, you brought up some good points that unfortunatly will not be grasped. One being media perspectives ( which is a huge one in the U.S. )and those that want to fan the flames, ( we just get a taste of that here) One thing to add. The point about Max being tied, you stated that we don't know for sure that the dog was tied. Actually the dog being tied would be even More aggressve, and More proned to bite . A tied dog with any aggression issues is something potentially very dangerous. E. German, good nerves or bad, tied, staked out etc. is not good.
Many years ago I came around a corner going to a shop and came across an aggressive GSD. He was all about business. Instinctively I started running backwards ( faster then most run frontwards) to get away. I saw he had a chain on him but didn't know how long it was, I just kept hoping it would end before he got me. It finally ended and I was happy. I then notice a bunch of guys from the shop all laughing as they had watched the whole thing. I was a kid then and scared to death. If I would have had a gun that dog would have died that day, and I would have unloaded all I had. Dog being tied only adds to my concern that the dog was infact something very aggressive. But sense I was not there it is just my opinion of what it may have been like for the officer.
