You know, this must be a "new thing" to get in on... a friend of mine just told me that she also knows someone who bred a bitch under 12 months old (seemingly on purpose as well)

It is people like them that are ruining the breed's reputation, and filling the shelters and rescues with more and more GSD's. This is just sick.

I guess there is no "age of innocence" for GSD's, the second they hit their first heat, they are ready to go. Who cares about hip/elbow certs, temperament, accomplishments, etc. These greedy people should be stopped. Someone should come out with a law of sorts, not to ban reputable, ethical breeders, but rather protect the dogs from greedy, unethical, back yard breeders.

Where in the world are you in Texas and u just hit a nerve with me too....I think we ought to know at least what town its in so we can beware....I also have a female I sold to someone in Grand Saline, and sold them the male, and I got the awful call , last week that they accidentally let the two breed..I am so mad that they will never speak to me again...I told them they just violated their contract with me and I have not decided what Im gonna do about it, as I get a pup from the first breeding..I dont want a pup out of a teenager...that is the most awful thing Ive had happen in all my selling days....and it wouldnt have mattered if I limited the registration , it s too late after they tye up....they really have made me fumming upset and I really hate fights and court battles but they may just lose two dogs real soon...I have to call my attorney next week and see what I entend to do ....it clearly states not to be bred before 24 months and an ofa certification in order.....and they wanted to buy another female from me last month, the granddaughter of Orthos v Tiekerhook, and to think I almost agreed to do it until I got that phone call....no way Hosea....she;s off limits to any home but a working home or a narcotics working pd home......the post for Immodium ad fits...give it to the owner not the dog   and then tie them to a pole outside for 64 days till the pups arrive....cruel aren't I?????

That's why to think of it...

Instead of having show and working lines...make it a DISTINCTION between PET line and True GSD's and never let this breeder ever say he breeds GSD's.

Publish his KENNEL name here (advertise for him)  so potential buyers will know what his breeding etiquettes are...

Guys... you understand in Germany, there is the ZEITUNG who publish these kinds of incidents and major faults of breeding so buyers can be aware... I only wish they would distribute the magazine worldwide in major languages...

Consider breeding GSD as a form of WORK and I understand it could be crowning of a GSD's career... The male should have done it by himself without the owners intervention (a good stud should be able to manage himself)

If it was done by the breeder purposely I only hope next time, he should be the one who does the act of mounting the poor bitch, a be jailed for puppy prostitution... or a bitch to conceive a damn GSDs progeny...

Go ahead USIMPORTS... you're doing it for the breed with a noble cause... we dont want this dark period of GSD history happen again... we should learn from mistakes and protect the integrity of our GSD...

AKC allows that?

What kind of kennel club you have over there people?

I wouldn't call it a kennel club, I'd call it a registration service.

What's wrong with telling people what breeder is breeding bitches at 9 months of age?  If it happened and is true and they're happy about it, where exactly is the slander???  Now when in fact someone is breeding 24 month old bitches and you tell everyone they're 9  months I could see, you're knowingly trying to cause harm.  Sorry, but if the breeder is breeding at 9 months, they've done all the harm themselves and you have nothing to be afraid of, regardless if they have the internet or are reading this database.

If anyone would like to know who these two breeders are, feel free to e-mail me. I would be more than happy to tell you more.

I am sorry to play the devils advocate here and please do not flame me, but technically speaking could someone tell me who has medical knowledge,  does something physiologically go wrong if they breed on the first heat? Is it more dangerous to the dog than if she were to breed at 24 months. I am well aware  about what has previously been said about needing to assess hips, workability, lines titles etc. and fully endorse these, but these are guidelines which we usually follow to improve the breed.  But medically speaking is there simply any physical harm being done to the bitch if she breeds at say 9 months? Just interested.
