You know what they say..."where there is smoke"...

Slamdunc

hans,
You said...amongst other things:

Let me ask you the same question which Slamdunc called loaded ( it is not)
and was not able to answer .
Are you going to apologize if you find out that you were wrong?

Yes, Hans if the guy is innocent I would admit I was wrong.  Just as I did when I defended you on my numerous posts on the Bartmess thread, then realized I was wrong and I made a mistake.  As I said from the beginning of this thread; if the SWAT team was at the wrong house then I would say they had made a huge mistake.  However, they were at the right residence and one if the targets of the investigation has been linked to the distribution of thousands of pounds of Marijuana.  I read the link posted by the RET Airforce guy and it was partially correct and partially erroneous.  The guy in that article was talking about decades old SWAT tactics and the information was neither current or relevant.

Having been through a search warrant not much different than this, where numerous warnings were given at the door and the suspect opened fire on us.  The end result was that my partner was killed standing next to me at the front door.  I went though a year and half of the defense atty trying the case in the media and a "Libertarian" started a blog regarding the events of that tragic night.  I took the suspect into custody and he was unharmed.  He was convicted at trial.  But every day, the "libertarian" was at court posting on the days events on his blog.  That moron even sitting in the court room could not get the facts correct.  He was a complete buffoon, but some people are so desperate to believe the Police were wrong they listened to everything he said.  Personally, I can't stand "Libertarians" views on the Police and Police operations.  It seems "Libertarians" are so desperate to prove themselves right they lose all objectivity, reading comprehension and common sense.  All that matters is that the Police are wrong, SWAT teams are evil and they should have done it differently.  My brother inlaw is a Libertarian and I haven't spoken to him in 3 years, he is exactly the same way.  Until, he needs the Police then he is very pro Police.

Hans, I am making bets that no one will ever convince you differently on this subject.  Even if the full report shows this guy was guilty.  You will still say that things should have been done differently, the SWAT team wasn't needed, make a traffic stop or arrest the guy at work.  He had a a family he would have surrendered peacefully...

I am not going to critique the SWAT team or discuss tactics with you as I do not see the point and this is not the place to do it.  From what I have read about this incident it appears the Police conducted a thorough investigation, developed Probable Cause for a Search Warrant and the Warrant was granted.  They executed the Search warrant, knocking and announcing giving multiple warnings and even using a Police car siren and loud speaker.  They entered the residence and confronted an armed subject laying in wait with an assault rifle.  The fired and killed the suspect.  No other people, either civilians or SWAT team members were injured.

After reading some of the information on the subject, it certainly appears that he was involved with a high level criminal organization involving the distribution of narcotics and several home invasions.  Evidence recovered during the search warrants revealed 5 bullet proof vests amongst ot

Sure.  If it turns out that the guy wasn't holding a rifle when the SWAT team walked through the door, I'll apologize.

Having bullet proof vests isn't a crime or illegal. Hell I have more than five because it's mandatory to wear one on a racetrack during training hours. WTF !!

Keep grasping.

There is no grasping that the guy was a dumbshit. He is at least guilty of that. Survival of the fittest I guess...

There are just certain things you do not do, if you don't want to get in trouble or lose your life. Pointing guns at cops is on that list. Hanging out with criminals is another.

Drug dealers are not cute and/or cuddly and bad shit tends to happen to them eventually. Distance yourself and your kids from these types of people if you want a safer lifestyle. Good ol wholesome daddies don't raise kids in this manner, around these kinds of people. END OF STORY!

If his wife or son was shot by SWAT, I would have blamed his stupid ass, not the officers. Thankfully that didn't happen, but had this moron not gone for his weapon and laid face down with his hands behind is head, he'd still be breathing as well.

Depends on the jurisdiction, and the history of the person in posession of the vest.

You wish.
