Wildbill......  So what if the scriptures are right? What if there is a God? And those who don't do what he says, do go to hell? Would it not be better to live a good life doing what the Bible says, than to live a life not believing in God.....Which would be a belief that says there is no heaven and there is no hell.  But if you do believe in God (anyone on this forum for that matter), then where did you come to know about Him? We know Him by what is revealed in His Word.  The Bible was a book written over a period of 1,500 years.  With roughly 40 writers, and yet it is a book that all goes together.  It is without contradiction. Don't make a comment to that point however, because the truth is......it only contradicts it when people take passages out of context.....Which is extremely common on this forum.   Or when people twists or pervert the gospel, or ad creeds for their own benefits, things seen in many denominations today.  Now this is also a book filled with so much prophecy, all which has come true other than the second coming of Christ.  There is much prophecy in the Old Testament about Christ, and even about the suffering in which would come to Him on this earth.   Now people on here may try to say, well Revelation is full of prophecy which hasn't come true, and so are some of the other books......Wait, what? No......Revelation was written at a time when Christians were under Roman persecution. It was written if you read in verse 1 and 3 of Chapter 1 for those in that time as it mentions (the time is near) or things soon to take place.  It was written to different churches, but also it was written in a way that sounds pretty "off the wall" so that the Romans would dismiss it as some foolish letter. Revelation is a book that is mostly symbolic as well, not literal.  When people make the whole book of Revelation literal that is how we come up with "theories" of the literal mark of the beast, or prophecies, and so many other things that just will never happen. We also havepeople who take things way out of context (in other books of the bible) to try to prove things like the 1,000 year reign, the rapture, etc. But I can speak on those at a later time.  To go back to what I mentioned about the Bible, consider how many men wrote it.  Different backgrounds, languages they spoke, cultures, some in authority, some were very uneducated men such as Peter and John.

(adding on to my above post because of length) You do have Saul (known as Saul when he persecuted the Church, but later called Paul) who was highly educated, where we have a number of the books from the New Testament in. I won't go into that and how he was converted as it's not necessary right now, but he was one who was highly educated and very knowledgeable of the Old Law. He studied under Gamaliel, not to mention Paul was a Jew.  Now some are familiar with the so called "lost gospels", but with those you must consider a few things.  Anyone who wants to believe in them must know that they were not written in a time to where they would have been inspired by anyone, or approved by anyone who was. They also were written with deceitful motives (some believe this would have been part of the apostasy to come) that totally contradict what the Bible teaches. They have no validity at all, nor should they be considered as truth.  Some also think it's crazy to think anyone was "inspired by God" when writing, and the same with miracles, prophecy, healings, etc.  But with that said, no of course these things don't take place today (there are false teachers who claim they do these things obviously).  1 Corinthians 13:8-10 speak of these things being done away.   In context the the passage means the "perfect" (complete) revelation, after which the confirming signs and miracles are no longer necessary. It can't mean heaven or the 2nd coming of Christ, as some try to argue. It can't because faith and hope will not "abide" then--that which is seen is not hope (Romans 8:24) and faith is the substance of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

vonissk you bring up an interesting point about incest, the flood, etc.  You have to remember something, with Adam and Even......and even when it was down to Noah and his family, how else would the population reproduce?  If God, the creator of the universe says in those times to do so then (which he did say to multiply the earth so to speak) they would, for the reason that the population of earth would be nonexistent.   There is no reason for it now of course.    And yes the flood was in Genesis, Genesis being written by Moses.  But also in a time where it was NOT common to write of the lineage of women.  That is why if you look at the lineage written in the book of Genesis it shows mostly men.  There would have been a number of daughters that Adam and Eve had,  but in those times it is not something that would have been written about.  The same with Noah's family having children as well.   You are trying to make God sound like a hypocrite for approving of incest......in a time when it was necessary for the population to continue on.... When truly if God created the Heavens and the earth, then yes He would have the right to allow it at that time.  Where did the people of the Tower of Babel come from? Genesis speaks of that too, but since you don't want any scripture I won't post any for you. Not to mention in part I have already explained where they would have come from.

Sorry everyone, not trying to spam the board, but it won't let me post anything lengthy.

Moons, what was the purpose of creation? The humans?  Or whom? As for the people Isaiah 43:7 goes to mention for God's glory.  But with that said we know that man kind has free choice.  What good would it be to create everyone with no free will? We would be nothing more than robots, and everyone would be worshiping God......without choice and that would be meaningless. Or do you not mean the humans?  I think a lot of the problem arises that many today only believe something if they can Scientifically prove it, but oddly enough, Science itself can't fully prove a lot of things that they claim or teach as Scientific fact.  I want you to consider this.  You might not believe in a world wide flood, as many probably don't.  I believe it to be so and the Grand Canyons to be a result of that.  In part I say(I also say this because I do believe the scriptures to be true) this because here I have seen what flooding of a minor level did over just a couple of days.  It fully eroded a massive amount of land/road earlier on this year. It did not take long at all to do that, nor were the waters anywhere like what a flood of 40 days/40 nights would have been (combined with water coming up from the ground as well as mentioned in the Genesis account).

It still won't stop people from making 10 posts to say what 1 post could have. Plus, it takes away from all forums, not just OT.

Oh, now this is interesting. Those people always are. Good thing there are super judges amongst us. The rest of us would have a hard time just screwing on heads on straight!
